    I took out a 2001/51 Sprint ST today - green, 6k miles, 4500ukp, no
    luggage but a rack.

Plenty of stomp and rock solid handling. Covered around 25 miles I
    reckon.

I was surprised the engine sounded (compared to the fazer which is quite
sewing machine-like) like a bag of spanners at low revs. I may have been
focusing on this too much but the dealer (Carl Rosner) stated that it
was the characteristic sound of the triple. We also fired up another
one, which sounded a little better. So I am asuming that I was listening
too hard! Sounded fine when I opened the throttle though.

The other thing is I know there was a change to the engine sometime in
2001 yielding another 10 bhp - has anyone got any experience of the two
    - is it worth seeking out the 118bhp model?

  4. Sometimes it's literally a bag of spanners which is making a noise
like a bag of spanners. Did you check the hidey hole where a toolkit
    toolkit is sometimes stashed?
