He's got a point, they are rubbish. Under-powered, uncomfortable, evil
handling, poorly braked piles of American poo.

Not as unreliable as my Beemer though, obviously.

    I rode a dyna-convertible nigh on 7k miles in a fortnight round 15
countries and was well impressed with the comfortable riding position. The
brakes worked, and the performance was adequate for the task. The ride up
the Alps and over the Grossgluckner pass was a gas. The handling although
limited in clearance terms was not in the slightest bit 'evil' either. It
was predictable and surprisingly competent on poor surfaces. The weight
helped keep it glued to the road obviously ;-)

The main drawback of a harley is how overpriced they are.

" Building a American superbike using a Harley V-twin is like trying to
make a really great chocolate shake when all you have to work with is
premium milk and old dog shit. It just won't work, no matter how hard
    you blend it ".

Sort your fucking newsreader out so it snips sigs. You've been around

I think it all comes down to how you want to ride and the company you
    keep.

Sportsters are very uncomfortable out of the crate (this is curable if
you throw loads of money at them but why should you have to?), but most
of the rest are actually OK.

If you are not in a particular hurry they're fine too. A huge culture
shock after a modern Japanese machine, and to try and get it to do the
same is laughable, but if you want to treat the scenery as a view rather
    than a hazard it's fine.

Riding a modern sportsbike within the legal limits is a dreadful
experience, not dissimilar to riding most Harleys without.
    Oh yes.

I gave up half way down although the guy has a very good point.

I worked in the Harley shop in Glasgow for 2 months before I had to
leave as the clientele were all wankers also the bikes were utter mince,
most of them were coming out of the crate rusting and I had to clean
them up and polish them to hide it.

Bad form I know, but I've since realised that the posts weren't made by the
same guy... hey ho; it probably helped his flame count anyway.
