I'm not in a happy place tonight

It appears my dozy twat of a cousin has lost a shitload of my photos
from the first half of my Malta trip off her laptop.

I am fucking fuming.

This happened cos I needed a clean SD card to put Malta Garmin maps on,
so we d/loaded the picturesfrom th SD card to her lappy and uploaded
the maps to the card. Somehow she reckons there aren't many photos,
when I know there were about 70 or so on there.

When did she lose them? They can almost certainly be recovered.

At the very least, you or she could have bunged them up to flickr on a
freebie account (or several) before this happened, depending on
bandwidth available at her gaff. Still, hindsight's a wonderful thing.

Download ZAR 9 & send it to your cousin (or forward the link) - you will
almost certainly be able to recover the vast majority of your pics, but as
with all cases like this the sooner the better, so they don't get
overwritten & lost!

as Lozzo & this laptop are some 1300 miles apart, how do you suggest he
convinces his cousin to comply?

 

did she allow you to use her login on this computer or get you to create a
new profile?

If you created a new profile then she might not be able to see the "my
pictures" folder you used to store the photos, especially if she does not
have administrator priviliges

Which bit? If the compliance, you may be right. If the competence, there
is at least one large, online gaming company that maintains data
centres on Malta. No shortage of skill over there.

I was trying to explain by use of example. I know several *very* good
computer bods that are either there now, or have been in the past.

It's not a direct attack at you, IYSWIM, but the 'essence' [1] of the threads
is that Malta doesn't have the skills in IT. I was sort of reinforcing your
point in a more direct way

[1] for want of a better word.

I've been fearing that all this holiday, because it was a year ago on
the 27th that I was rushed in.

Anyway, said dopey cow cousin informed me late last night that there
are over 60 photos in the folder, which sounds about right. The ones I
described to her are still in there, so I'm not as unhappy today.
