I'm obviously getting old...

....because, having finished the VFR yesterday and having since ridden it
with and without the 'DB Killer' bung in the exhaust, I prefer it with it
    in.

The rear brake saga didn't quite come to an end having used the vacuum tool
to bleed the system - the brake still felt distinctly dead.

A new set of pads and judging them after they've done a bit more than just
brake the bike in first gear around the yard, and therefore having actually
got some heat into them, helps. :)

Wouldn't it be cheaper, in the long run, to buy something new?

    Hummm... no?

It owes me about £1500 all in, and a load of something I have in abundance
right now - 'time on my hands'.

For that, I've got a VFR in better nick and lower mileage than the one I
sold on recently for £1600, that doesn't need a rear tyre and which has had
anything that needed attention (and a few things that didn't), sorted and
fettled meaning that should I be stupid enough to take a job that requires a
commute by bike soon, it should be reliable and hassle free for a good while
    yet.

I've actually enjoyed working on it as well - it's quite satisfying to look
at the finished product, knowing 'I did all that' (1).

pan after a banging shit', stylee comments. ;-)

Rides lovely now... just trying to get the rear shock set up right for me.
    Cheers. :)

It's a Honda! Oh, you were being sarcastic. That's ok.

Like I said, at the moment I've got plenty of that on my hands, so if
anything it's given me something to do.

Today however, I am off down the town looking for something seasonal which
is hopefully slightly further up the ladder than 'McJob'.

IT is very slack at the moment, especially down here in deepest Kent... and
whilst I could possibly get something up in that there London, I *really*
can't stomach the commute any more, and I've no desire at all to live up
    there either.
    All part of the fun.
    No heartache as such.
I'll give you that one - however, the bike is still worth that much more now
that it's done, than when I started and despite certain parts not being
factored in when I priced it all up.
I apologise for posting something mildly on-topic. Won't happen again,
    Sire. ;-)
I've enjoyed doing it overall, yes.

    Would I do it again?

Maybe one day... hopefully won't have to for a while though because the bike
is now 100%, with nothing obvious showing signs of needing imminent
    attention.

Having said that, I'm tracking something ridiculous on eBay at the mo
that'll need a lot of TLC should I win it... ;-)
