  2. What amazes me is that if you bang on in Usenet in even the slightest
bit less than complimentary way about the whole Zionist conspiracy thing
you get nutter's come crawling out of the woodwork in their masses from
all over to issue death threats with the blessing of the rabbit but not
in Des's case. Even they don't want him istm.

I don't know if this is true, I never witnessed anti-jewish sentiment in
Britain, anti-muslim feelings were more prevalent. Then again I didn't live
there that long so I can't tell for sure. If this is true, I think it's
unfair, particularly since Jews living abroad are generally better
integrated than Muslims, in my experience anyway. Then again most Jews have
been living "abroad" for several generations and are not lower-class
financial immigrants with little education. Regarding Britain, all this PC
nonsensical attempts to try and keep everyone happy regardless how
unreasonable they may be, isn't doing anyone any favours. I just hope the
    media are over-sensationalising the events.

I don't disagree, I actually presume that Palestinians hate Israelis much
more than the other way round and we can both guess what could happen if
Palestine had enough muscle to annihilate Israel. Still, under current
    circumstances, they're more defenseless.

I think it's more than just different mentality, but one could argue for
days about what makes one a fanatic and still not have gone too far. I think
the world would be better without religions, but then humans would find
something even more stupid to hate each other for (see Communism vs.
Capitalism, Spurs vs. Arsenal and Coke vs. Pepsi).

Well, I'm glad they don't have the power to start of couple of
Crescent-ades, like some other guys I can think of right now. Fortunately
we're now long past that stage, although I'm not that certain about the U.S.
It's not that simple though, again we could argue for days regarding what it
is that turns peaceful, god-fearing (that's not bad per se) people into
fundamentalist bastards. And that definition partially includes the "we're
gonna make you free, regardless whether our definition of freedom isn't
really your cup of tea right this instant, or kill you trying" American
    approach.

Maybe, but you can't compare them to the state of Israel. And there's no
official army attacking, just a bunch or rebel/terrorist groups (difficult
distinction sometimes), although I agree that they are tolerated or even
    assisted by Hamas.

I'm not saying they're right. There's rarely a pure moral champion in a
conflict and this one is more messed up than most conflicts tend to be. I
just feel that Palestinians have got the shorter end of the stick so far.
Also, as unfair as this may be, one expects a developed nation to show as
much restraint and good will as possible, whereas you don't have the same
high expectations from a semi-functional one. Israel fails to show this good
will (to put it mildly) often enough to overshadow its positive gestures.

Obviously talk is cheap, if it were my family being shelled by extremists I
probably wouldn't be saying all this "sissy liberal crap". On the other
hand, if my family were denied a dignified living in the soil they were born
and raised, I'd be a little miffed too. I'm just glad I'm not part of this.

Hmm, not sure a post to free.fr should legitimately have a yahoo.co.uk
