Wheel's back in, brake fitted[1], all nice and tickety-boo.

Rear subframe dropped into place, panniers on, wiring reconnected.

New seat backrest pad fitted easily, too.

Exhaust[2] had to come off again, to start with, cos the heatshield by
the left footrest goes on before the exhaust. Obviously.

CD player need refitting, then all that's left are silencers,
    headraces and front brakes.

Oh, and an MOT before the French run. I think a couple of days off may
    be in order.

[1] With cleaned and greased pistons, etc.
[2] There were gaskets, after all. Very thin squashed ones, which took
some digging out, but they were there.

    Not an horse-pishers start.

Wandered out to the garage this a.m., went to sit down with a cuppa
and a ciggie to survey the situation, and one of the castors on my
    little stool snapped off.

Over I went, thinking I'd got away with it quite lightly, when a pint
of hot coffee lost its struggle against gravity, and rejoined me on
    the floor.

Anyway, after I'd a acquired a new stool, the new oil went in, one
silencer on, lhs completely refitted. Rhs nearly done.

CD player works, but a speaker is fubared. Back to Halfords for a
cheap pair in the morning. I'm not coughing for a posh set again.

All that remains now is the front end.

I take it that all the little rollers falling to the floor when one
removes the steering stem is a *bad* sign?

Still, the new set is in (getting the bottom bearing outer was a right
pita - thanks to Mr Dremel), so off to the garage to put the wheel in.

On a taper roller set? Yes, definitely not right.

No wonder the steering was a little notchy. :)

Still, the new ones are in now, and it feels lovely.

All I have to do now is refit the brakes, bleed the clutch, and fit
    the new screen.

Oh, and convince my MOT man that all is well. I hope he lets me take
    it in tomorrow afternoon.

Riding it there with crossed fingers could be a little awkward.

Well, he won't have to do that now, will he?
