Go to the website of the road traffic authority in your state and search
for information on importing a vehicle. The rules changed a few years
ago making it virtually impossible for individuals to import random
vehicles and get them registered in Australia.

There are 3 ways to get a newish bike into Oz from overseas.

    1) you have been overseas for a year and have owned the bike overseas
    all that time.

    2) You have documentation from the factory that the bike complies with
Oz rules. SO that's official letterhead, all serial numbers and so
    on.

    3) someone *in Australia* has the right to set that make and model up
    for compliance.

So I'd say whoever told you that is mistaken.

    Hi Biggus.

Aye, it does seem a fairly strange idea, acquiring a grey-import,
    ex-Japan, Ducati.

I thought there were quite enough Dukes in Oz already, and the genuine
    import ones are available.

I suppose the idea is to get one cheap, but that seems to go against the
main point of buying a Duke in the first place, being able to skite
    about how much it cost.

That's OK. As soon as it is in the garage it will cost and keep on
    doing so.

(seems like time for the return of the old .sig)

Buy a Ducati[GOD] limited edition or low volume model and it equals =

    BUY LOW SELL HIGH PROFIT!

Unlike the hahaondasakiyamuki cloned copycat sheep garabge thats all
the same shit, if they didnt have different colours the mother could
    not tell them apart...
