Kind of a gloomy day when I left Irving to meet the gang at Cracker Barrel
in Arlington.. Jim, his son Wyatt, Brian, Fullstate, Rob and his lovely wife
met us about 8 AM and we sliced through Arlington down past Mansfield and
hit the hill country around Glenrose.. The temps were fine and the roads
were dry, so we nailed 'em pretty hard.. Anyone who is familiar with the
area knows, there are some great runs in this vicinity.. Couple of sport
bikes, riden by Fullstate and Wyatt, but the rest were cruisers.. I didn't
feel so much like a standout.. We hit the Koffee Kup in Hico around lunch
time and I would love to report that everyone except Fullstate behaved and
the pie was excellent, as usual.. After lunch, we did the run through
Cranfill's Gap and everyone was impressed with that one.. We managed to get
back into the metroplex around 4 or so and paid a short visit to the
Hooter's in Arlington.. Whew... couldn't stand much more of that... Good day
for me and I hope everyone there had as much fun as I did (No one ever
does)... Just a few sprinkles about a mile from home and that was about the
extent of the bad stuff... I'd also like to report that Fullstate was only
half hour late, showed up sober (reasonably) .. He only had part of his gear
on, but the earplugs were installed, I think, where they belonged...
Additionally, I wasn't tied, taped, lashed or otherwise secured, all day...

I'll have to try harder next time. You know me.... :p
Glad to hear that you made it dry. I figured you would beat it home.
I later watched the weather and it's amazing that we didn't get nailed
as the system came right through here FROM that whole area. We must
have got out of there in time.
I was NOT 1/2 hour late. We were supposed to be ready to leave the
lot by 8:30am and I was there at 8:15am.
I had all my gear on that I own. I didn't have riding pants on
because I don't own any and haven't had any luck finding some that
fit. And yes, my earplugs were right where they belonged.

Hey speaking of, Brian was interested in them and the MP3 player....at
least 2 of us have some sense about us. LOL

Here is the web site for the player that I have:
    http://www.iriveramerica.com/

the latest and greatest one has 512mb of RAM. I think that is about
16 hours of music if you rip your MP3s at 64kbps. You are probably
aware that you can get the kind with the hard drives built in and get
a TON of music on them, but I kind of like the idea of no moving
parts, light and small, etc. These also use standard batteries, etc.
But you got to decide what is best for you.

The earplugs, as I mentioned can be had at the upcoming international
motorcycle show. They are injected / molded on the spot either by
appointment at the show or you can stand in line. If you get the ones
with the speakers, they will have to mail them to you after the molds
are made. I love mine. I use them ALL the time.
hehe....yeah, you got off easy! Glad you made it. Had fun riding
    with you once again.

Keep us posted on the show! We could probably get a group to go down
there and ride there....maybe even a "group discount" (like that's
    gonna happen).

I was also thinking about a mini disc player, but it wouldn't hold
enough songs...and I doubt it would survive the bouncing abuse I put
    on a bike.

I would really like something that would take a CF card so I could put
a couple albums on each and change at the gas stops...that way I'm not
listening to the same music over and over again.

Don'cha just love how I hint for birthday presents? :)

Well, one of the things you might like about this particular player is
that you can create folders and group music into those folder. So you
might have one that is rock, one is country, one classical, whatever.
Then you can tell the player to play only the songs from one of the
folders or you can tell it to shuffle the songs in that folder, or in
    all the folders.

My guess is that the other players have something similar, but I don't
    know for a fact.

You can also use MoodLogic in conjunction with the player to create
play lists. I have a couple for working out, a couple for plane
trips, a couple for bike rides. I just load up a list, wait a few
minutes until it is finished, disconnect and go.
