  1. More like watching a production of 'Death of a Salesman'.

    Now I don't watch a great deal of television - there's actually a
programme called that (I looked) - which is pretty funny. I may make the
    effort.

Newspaper is how we cleaned engine windows. The vinegar thing was my
    Grandmother or somesuch

She was a delivery driver for Exide Gaedor - and an ambulance driver in
Salford during the war - she knew lots of useful things about vans/cars
and was absolutely terrifying to be in a vehicle with.

Actually, at 90 she still is.

Dunno exactly, even to that sort of margin, but he's done some serious
    holidays & shit recently.

He's no fool & given you have to deal with the public, i reckon he's on
around £35k a year. Not big bucks, but not bad for running a shop.

I'll ask him right out, as i need to go back for some more underseal....

  7. Some wiper blades are specific fit and differ between LHD and RHD.

  8. I know.
You should - it's full of tips about cleaning with vinegar, lemon
    juice and stuff like that.
It may well be your grandmother who stars in that show.

Many blades are angled wrt the screen, so if you use LHD ones on a RHD
car they're the wrong way round and will a) not wipe properly and b)
    make a god-awful noise.

And some cars have different sized blades on the driver's and
    passenger's sides as well.

yeah - on mine there's a couple of cm difference in length between
    sides.

Despite what others have said, the pattern ones from halfords have
been fine for the couple of months I've had them on there[1].

[1] that said, I've driven less than 5 miles in the last 3 weeks.

You've just reminded me of "Penny Arrow" bars (Penny Arrer" really) and the
fact that I once went into one of those little toffee shops and asked them
"How much are your Penny Arrer bars Mr?" These days, some **** would've
definitely say "Two quid" but the gent then just said "For you son, a penny
    each".
Most of them things were still hard to get when I was "into" them. Remnants
of rationing I suspect as most (all) used a shit load of sugar.
We have the ubiquitous "Paki Shop" (absolutely no offence as these
particular folk are Indian anyway) and they have all the loose treats in big
jars and the shop's always heaving at school in and school out time with the
kids counting out pennies for a quarter of sherbert dibs, or gobstoppers.
It's like stepping back in time, but it's *always* been like that in this
    littleold shop.

The two rather large Mercs that sit round the back are testament to the
profits being made though, as is Dash's home. And they've never flogged fags
to schoolies that I've ever heard about either. Which is ice.

Equally, if he didn't know what he was talking about, he should've get his
fucking gob shut. Or joined UKRM where that sort of thing isn't as much
    tolerated as encouraged.

Hmm. Having seen an Indian team-mate's reaction to be called a Paki
some years ago, I wouldn't bank on that IIWY.

Yep, vinegar works too and most pattern wipers have some form of greasy
agent on them (possibly what they used to have in the molds), but release
agents aren't as common as they used to be. I've heard that tyre
manufacturers don't use it anymore and I tend to believe that, but wiper
blades have "something" on them that gets tranfered to the windscreen pretty
    quickly.

Piss simple to get rid of though.
So is panel wipe and a micro fibre cloth :)
