Incompetent forger

  1. The bloody Frenchman I won some Honda SL125 sode panel decals from.

"These are original (OE), not like 99% of the ones you see."

It's taken a month to get them, because the twat's Paypal address wasn't
what Ebay thought it was, and his home address/phne numbers are u/s.
Reported him to Ebay for that, but did they do anything? Hah.

And finally the decals arrived, and they're fucking copies. You can even
see half the "Lexmark" logo on the bloody backing.

I'm going for a Paypal reclaim and an Ebay complaint, but I'm not
holding my breath. Bastard has 100% FB as well (albeit only 22).

Good luck with the paypal reclaim, all of the ones I raised had been
closed down by paypal as "not our problem, guv" within a few hours.

And don't get me started on the transaction that I made more than a
week ago to send t' better half some dosh. They're still sitting on a
tidy sum that would've bought a bike, potentially two, and despite
numerous phone calls they have done what they always do, continue to
sit on it and do **** all.

It'll be interesting to see if the internal paypal complaints process
actually achieves something or if a call to A Higher Authority is
    needed.

    If you're persistent - really, really, really persistent - you'll get a
result. They're essentially incompetent, above anything else. Very, very
    incompetent.

I got £25 back on an Audi cargo-net that wasn't - but it took me several
*months* of pointing out their continued idiocy and was well into the
realms of academic exercise by the time I finished.

If you tell Paypal you received the goods, they will not be interested
IME they only get involved if goods fail to be supplied
    (you could try this tact?)

  7. It's much easier to get a PayPal refund for items you didn't receive
(than claiming for getting wrong items). You didn't receive the
genuine Honda side panels did you?

I had the same hassle when I got a pirated software CDROM. Paypal made
me return the fake CDR, before they would even consider the claim, and
having spent out on that, the seller still refused to pay up. They
actually seem to support these pirates.

Sounds very familiar. Paypal had me return the cargo-net, then decided
they didn't like the proof of delivery I obtained, so closed the case.
They did this several times over the ensuing months until I eventually got
them to recognise that the Tweedale Sorting Office didn't necessarily have
to be in Tweedale but could, for example, be on the Tweedale industrial
estate, in Telford..... But their whole approach was to have me, the
aggrieved purchaser, jumping through hoops whilst a clearly dodgy seller
(transparently so, given the nature of my complaint) sat sniggering with
both the goods and my money in his possession. Fuckwits of the first
    order, really.

Not exactly - it became more an exercise in seeing how long they could
perpetuate the idiocy, I wasn't that concerned about getting paid as fast
as possible - for £25, it was a laugh as much as anything. I did suggest
that, as they had asked me to return the evidence I would have no choice
but to cite them in any legal action as co-defendant.

It's all on usenet somewhere, hang on....

It was very 'I've started, so I'll finish'.. With SWMBO in the background
regularly intoning 'I just don't know how you can be *bothered*'. But the
longer it went on, the clearer it became that I had to pursue it to the
bitter end. Plus I could never have lived with the tosser at the other end
having my money AND the goods. I negged him on the 'secret' last possible
    day :)

  14. Indeed not :)

Of course, I got a retaliatory neg. I see he's put some more up for
auction, and got a bidder. Were it not for Ebay's auction interference
rules, I'd warn the bidder, but presumably he can read a feedback page
    himself.

  15. Well, the latest is this. Paypal refuses to refund because I've received
the goods. Ebay's dispute page relating to 'items not as described'
    directs me to Paypal. *Sigh*

The **** in question has just been NARU'd, and I see he's received
another neg for the same complaint.

OK, in view of the fact that he's been NARU'd, I'd have thought I have a
cast-iron case, but how to get Paypal to see reason? Suggestions? This
is the first time I've come up across a genuine dyed-in-the-wool Ebay
shyster, and I'd like to get my pound of flesh.

His Ebay ID is the.guy.burn if you're interested.

(It would also be nice to get the neg against me removed, but I'm sure
that's too much to hope for).

Did it go through Visa or Mastercard, or using
    balance from your PayPal account?

  17. Mastercard. I'm not sure if the sum involved is enough to bring them
    into it, though.....

I've heard you can't do that.

Visa/MC say their transaction was with PayPal, which isn't the
problematic transaction in question, so they won't do anything.

  20. Heh. Well, yes, you're more or less correct. I have been ripped off by a
    complete shyster.

I alerted Ebay to the fact that he had incomplete address details. They
did nothing. I alerted Ebay to the fact that he was flogging copies as
originals. They did nothing. I alerted Paypal to the fact that he had a
different Paypal address to what whas billed on Ebay. They did nothing.

Please note that *none* of these aspects were discernible until *after*
I'd bought the decals from the ****.

You can't view an Ebayer's address details until after you've done a
    deal.

I couldn't discern that the decals were fakes until after I'd got them
(he pictured them with Honda wrapping - needless to say, they didn't
    come in Honda packs).

And I couldn't get his Paypal details until after I'd done the deal.

I'm with Ferger here - it's not the money, it's sheer principle. They
permitted an out-and-out con merchant to carry on trading. OK, he's
NARU'd now, but it should have been done ages ago. And the fact that
    he's NARU'd shows he's a con artist - but Ebay/Paypal still shrug.
