The renewal from CN came in the post yesterday and looks rather
favourable. That said, they made a big song and dance about their
inability to cover your kit a few years back.

Guess what they're now flogging as a separate policy for only another 40
    quid...

My leathers cover cost me 35 quid with Carole Nash, knock them down on
    the price

Well, as mentioned the bumpf advertises it at 39 now. I'll try to knock
them down by that amount but it won't be that easy I guess.

Frustration with CN being a broker is that they happily move you from
underwriter to underwriter each year without ensuring that the terms of
the policy still meet your needs; I only discovered on renewal this year
that they'd moved me on to a policy that excluded towing my trailer
    about 5 years ago

Yep, I learned the hard way with those guys that you absolutely have to
read the small print every time. And of course I came across an amusing
    bit, namely the following statement:

"As your current insurer is /able/ to provide you with a quotation, we
have found you an alternative policy."

And again please, in proper English?

Of course I also marvelled at the fact that said policy is with Groupama
(now there's a surprise) and they still have the cheek to charge me a
    broker fee.

I think some more online quotes are suddenly required.

They did the same to me a few years back. Transferred me from RSA to
Chaucer IIRC. Lost cover for HAGM and some non EU countries. It cost me
about £40 extra to switch back to RSA to get cover for a trip to Croatia.

I tend to read through renewal documents with caution, nowadays.

  7. I've just done some online quotes with them...

The VFR is now £317 FC, compared to the £324 they quoted about a month
    ago.

A Thunderace has gone from being £450ish FC last month up to £667, and
this is with me now having one less claim I have to declare!

And a Fazer 1000... you know, the one out of the three with the least
amount of plastic to break when you crash and burn is nigh on a grand
    FC!!!

Same sort of money as the VFR if TPFT though.

Think I'll be looking elsewhere if I do change up to a litre bike,
    somehow...

It appears at the moment, Bennets are trying to buy the market - They
charged me 74 quid FC for the Pan-Euro this year - and I've just had a
quote off them as I might be changing the bike (or might not) and to
swap to a brand new GL1800 de-luxe for the remaining 8 months of the
policy will cost me the princely sum of 38 pounds.

It's broken, or at least the 'occupation' part is.

    Arse.
Yebbut what price not smelling of stale wee, eh?

<snip quotes that are all over the place>

They're quotes are a bit odd, both for bikes and cars. Take a certain
type of VW Beetle that I'm currently looking at - both the same age,
but one a coupe and the other one a Targa. Roughly the same value, too.

Coupe parked out the back, no problem even without an alarm or
immobiliser. Targa - despite it being less sought after - must be
garaged, must have alarm etc blah blah.

Trying to make sense of inswearance doesn't.

Not one of the listed occupations. Odd really. If they read UKRM
they'd realise it was the vocation of millions.
    Who knows?
