Might sound daft, but does anyone here have a modern bike policy with
CN that has either a higher mileage limit than 10k/year or unlimited
    mileage?

I just noticed that I've done about 5.5k already on the Sprint, and
there are another seven months to go on the policy that's limited to
10k/year. Doesn't look good to me, especially if I buy a Pan.

Alternatively I need another SOB that I can use to commute, as *that*
policy has unlimited mileage on all bikes...

dunno, really. Buy a second modern bike?

Hmm? 'ows that going to work? I though the limit was per policy? Or is
    it per bike?

    *Confused*
Hmmmmm. I was more thinking along the lines of ShiteOldMZ or
ShiteOldRD, as they'll provide a nice contrast to the Ferraris and
    Astons in the company carpark.

    I'll think about it...

    I said I'd do 8k/year and I've done 5k in 3 months. I think I'm going
to have to revisit my policy too, but I'll probably leave it until
    7.5k.

I don't think mine has a limit. I hope not.

    Anyway, how will they know?

Before MOT time. ?? miles / ?? months = average
After MOT time. Mileage today - MOT mileage = average

Could even ask for previous MOTs

Actually, now I think about it, I'm not sure how they can be
*certain*, especially if you don't hang onto a bike for long.

Even if you do, you may only keep the most recent MOT. So even if you
were MOTd last month and have stuck 5k miles on you simply say you
only use this bike for holidays. It would be up to them to prove you
    need it all year.

This falls down if you do 20k miles a year, have had the bike since
new, four years age, etc, etc.

Yep - unlimited mileage. Wasn't significantly more expensive than
    limited ('bout 10%, I think).
You can often extend the mileage on the policies, just by phoning up
your insurers. Some will charge for it though.

well I've just renewed with them, and there's no mention of the bikes
mileage. They also only ask for an "estimated annual mileage" of which I
said "4000" and then checked that this was not a limit. It isn't.
I'll probably do three times that if previous usueage is anything to go by.

With Carole Nash? That's interesting - when I insured the Sprint I
tried to get unlimited mileage on the policy, but was told that they
didn't do modern bike policies that have no mileage restriction.

Not to mention that I just found out that there's a limit on the
maximum value of the bike on my policy as well, which is another
little detail that hasn't been mentioned on the phone when I took out
    the policy.

    <fx: Makes note to re-check small print>

Mind emailing me some more info to the 'other' address?

    TIA,
    T.

Prolly being thick, but I'm not sure what you mean by "other address",
so I'll stick it here. It's a multi-bike policy, for all the bikes in my
sig. I asked about restricting mileage on everything but the Tig, but
was told all bikes on the policy have to be restricted to the same
mileage if you do that. As I do anything from 2k to 20k miles a year on
the Tig, that wasn't an option.

I've just double checked the certificates & schedules, and there's
definitely nothing on there about mileage. They did quote for a "classic
rider's policy" as well, as the Fantic qualifies, but that was £15 more
    expensive.

CN insures my 3 for 215 a year on fully comp. I was asked if I wanted a
mileage limit but as there was no discount to be had for such a limit I
    declined.

With Carole Nash? Mind emailing me what the policy is called? I'm
getting the feeling that they're either dumping a load of male bovine
excrement on me regarding the mileage limit or have sold me a policy I
didn't want. If it's the latter I probably have to go all URKM on
    their arses.

Classic bike policy or modern bike policy? I've had the "no mileage
limit" for their classic policies, but not for modern policies...
