Just sold my TRX, very sad to see it go. But it has gone to a good home.
The bloke that bought it, another older rider. Returning to bikes after
a long layoff. We were talking about insurance for the bike and I recall
a company that specializes in insurance for over 40's. People that do
    not use the bike everyday.
The adds used to appear in Two Wheels i think. Haven't bought the mag
for a long time. Read most of my M/C news and articules on the net these
    days.
Anyone know the name of the company, so I can pass it on to the new
owner of my (alchoholically morned) TRX.
When financal circumstances change I will probably buy another TRX, bar
for the atrocious pillion accomadation, easily the best bike I have ever
owned over a 34 year motorcycling, journey, adventure, way of life, etc,
    etc....

    Sounds like Shannons.

No good for me, cos all my bikes are used as much as possible...

That's the one - used to trade as IC Frith and Associates. I've been
using them for a few years now. Haven't had to claim, so I can't comment
on that. I'm sure we would have heard though!

    Yup

Arista via IC Frith and Assoc.

They have what I think are hefty restrictions. Anyone under 40 uses the
bike - no insurance. You can't commute every day (even country commutes).

In my case, I save a whole 30-something dollars a year on my new Aprilia
SL1000R (Falco), despite over 10 years without a claim on any policy
anywhere. As I have an under 40 rider in the house (with his own bike), and
a job that will change to involve more commuting (boo hiss), I'll probably
stick with the regulars such as Swann and QBE when my policy expires.

I should say that I've never had a problem with the company, but have never
had to claim, so you'd hope not. As for my ancient history with Swann -
well, I hope they've improved (again, no claims, but their paperwork used to
    be abysmal).

As always, shop around - YMMV.

Try NRMA. ask for veterans and vintage section. Its pretty good for over
    40's, no bike restrictions

I recently found that Suncorp was very good on premiums.

  9. I'm over 40 and got the best price on my VTX1800 from New England Insurance
    Brokers www.neib.com.au
Ph:- 07 4681.2877. They are also underwritten by Lloyds which I found
    re-assuring.
    Good luck

  12. The cheapest quote I've ever had was off them but I'm still a better gambler
IMNSHO. The blokes in the car club get good deals and have had good success
getting a consultant to tailor make quotes based on particular personal
    requirements.
