Insurance Renewal Dilemma

Blackbird renewal from Bikesure (Adrian Flux) came in at £183 with £49
breakdown and £30 policy renewal includedl. Rang them up and they will
do it for £153 effectively cancelling the renewal charge. However,
Carole can do it for £124 inc all the same as Bikesure and with a
    lower excess.

Problem is i've heard a few horrors about CN lately........

    Any thoughts??

The only horror stories I've heard about CN relate to their renewal
charges, so not an issue in your case.

The only time I've claimed via CN they were good as gold. I'll have to
see come June but despite checking eachtime I've yet to find as good a
price with all the nice bits included , ie european cover for one.

Indeed. Recent stories from posters here confirms that the service most
people are likely to need, the breakdown element, *just works*, whether
in the UK or Europe. Yamaha owners may eventually catch up...

    Indeed.

In 2008 the Guzzi misbehaved in Germany and it all went without fuss or
bother. I got a hire car [1] for the duration, the bike arrived back in
the UK a day after me and all my incidental costs were refunded.

[1] They gave me a Smart car [2] because that was "as small as a bike" -
unfortunately it couldn't take the luggage the Guzzi was carrying. Much
to the surprise of the rather camp hire car attendant.

If you're in the same position tell them that you need luggage and kit
    space in the replacement vehicle.

    [2] To everyone else's amusement [3]
[3] Except in the blizzard - they weren't fucking laughing at me then.

I've said it on a number of occasions I've had no problems with CN -
renewals have been ok, if they weren't I just made a call, claim process
went fine (in 2000) and both Euro and UK recovery just works (EU '08, UK
    '10).

Although, they've never asked me to fit an alarm.

They were OK for the Jag but they couldn't match Footman James' this year.

  7. And they got me on an Easyjet flight back when my Tenere melted down the
    following year.

  9. Got Carole Nash insurance. Didn't have their recovery number with me so
used my AA one instead (through bank)

I find that quite amusing, considering what you do for a living and the
gadgets at your disposal. There again, if the network coverage is anything
like around here, perhaps you didn't have a signal on the M4...

  11. Actually since CN is outsourced as it seems is much of the AA I didn't
think there was much benefit in calling them.

Plus... since I'm about to go somewhere where I really might need to
have reliable breakdown cover I thought I'd keep their powder dry as it
were since my AA cover doesn't (I think) extend outside of the UK.

No problem with the signal, obviously, since I was posting a little to
UKRM and also calling the AA from the side of the M4.

The SOS motorcycles recovery man said I have up to 5 callouts for
breakdown for free from CN when I called them out, in case this helps.
