Just getting some quotes for renewal on the gixer. It looks like I might
be fully rehabilitated after the incident with the nuns.

MCE - £152.96 inc. CIHAGM, overseas and breakdown

at the other end of the scale...

    eBike - £1868.61 inc. **** all.

    Are they taking the piss?

That seems damned cheap for a young whipper-snapper living in an inner
    city slum.

Compared to a mature gentleman living in the Royal County, that is.
I suspect they just don't want to take the risk.

    I think being a not-so-young-as-I-once-was whipper-snapper may have
something to do with it. That and the big claim being four years ago,
    anyway.

TPFT. Comp was about 400 notes.

They've never given me a competitive quote. Ever.

    Ah, I see.
Have you tried eBike for FC? Sometimes I've seen InsCos hacve stupid
quotes for TPFT, only for FC to be somewhat more competitive. And vice
    versa, of course.

I've never really bothered with FC insurance on bikes. Always on cars,
even when I had that banger of a 306, but my bikes fend for themselves.

Royal County of Berks: you'd fit in, yes.

I keep insuring my bikes FC but the only time I'd claim would be if I
totally wrecked one because claiming for minor/medium level damage
would be pointless because of the excess and the amount my premium
would increase for the next 5 years.

I repaired (1) my 10R for under £600 after the high side last year but
if it had gone through as a claim it would have been scrapped because
it would have needed a number of fairing panels, a new swinging arm,
footrests, clip on, brake lever, mirror, end can and a seat unit. Add
on the stupid little bits & pieces that all cost at least £5 and it
soon mounts up to being uneconomical to repair.

    (1) I know it needs spraying but I cba to get it done. I always worry
that the day after I get it back all shiny and clean I'll lob it and
the money will have been wasted so I'll get it done when it's time for
    it to go.

You are not the first, nor will you be the last, to make that
    observation!

Quite. If I spunked ten grand on something new(ish) I'd consider comp,
but for the four grand or so I tend to spend it's hardly worth it.
