Insurance...

  1. I have been getting quotes for insurance for my new R6 that I have
just bought and wondered how you go on with making sure you have cover
for your helmet, leathers etc in the event of an accident. Most
insurers that I have got quotes from have not even mentioned about
whether clothing is covered or not, so is this something that you must
request seperately or is it built in to most standard insurance
    policies?

Suppose I guess you could claim on your own insurance if fully comp. if it
was your own fault, but you can definately claim (whatever your policy) if
it some other cunts fault, when I was last sent flying around 3 years ago by
a silly blind bint turning into my path I successfully claimed for value of
bike, helmet, fully leathers, boots, injury, lose of use of vehicle, time
off work, cab fares for trips to hospital / consultants, painkillers,
vehicle storage etc etc u name it. Down side is it did take upto 18 months
    for all to go through.

  3. From my experience (new helmet and gloves from Zurich Ins in
Zurich(!)) these things are covered in your homeowner's insurance, not the
vehicle ins. In the case of theft, anyway...

    Try Yamaha Insurance Services - 08700 747374.
When I phoned for a quote, the bloke went to great length to tell me what
was included in the policy - unlimited mieage, £500 helmet & leathers,
£10k personal injury and 90 days foreign use.
What really swung it for me though, was that they wanted £600 which was
    £1000 less than NU...

You'll end up indirectly paying for them next year (and the year after and
    so on) anyway.

Check your home insurance - mine covers me up to £2.5k for 'possessions'
    outside the home.

I specifically had them check that motorcycle equipment was included, it
    was.

  9. The difference will be minimal, since it's not *all* coming out of my
    pocket, is it? Sorry, everyone...
