Fairground rides have more inspections than anything on the sea and
all repairs have to be approved by the insurers before the repair is
carried out. I fucking hate it when we have to quote to repair
    fairground crap.

Marine stuff is great because you just tell the Lloyds inspectors
what they want to hear and they **** off to drink tea in the mess.
Think JC and try to deny it.

I think it was restricted to levels 1 & 2.

Oh, OK. I'm not entirely sure I should take the drop from the
Illuminati and mix with those people.

    It's not a ferry, it's a freighter.

  6. 'Bout then, yeah. That trip was memorable for the shitty old tub losing
an engine/boiler and taking nearly 23 hours for the trip from Ardrossan
    to Douglas.

First trip I had on a ferry didn't start well. Started to feel a bit
groggy, so got a few beers down (at the direction of a mate) and then
    it was all good.

It's a bit shit if you have to drive away though.

I've inspected some old fairground stuff, it was fucking horrible. I'll
never go on anything what looks more than a year old.

OTOH, new stuff seems to be inspected from square one and rides on
    amusement parks have regular inspections.

But sometimes, when I'm testing repairs, they just want to look over my
shoulder and keep asking "what does that signal mean?" :-/

If they have to ask then you've got it made.

I usually come out with something like " I'd sooner use an approved
repair such as ......." and then just do whatever I decide is easiest.
As long as you document everything nobody gives a toss.

1 or 2 of them know what they're talking about, but that's not many.

    Sounds good. "Bullshit baffles brains".

Are you talking "Alton Towers" type fairground, or "Bunch of pikeys
turn up and take over that park" type fairground. Because if it's the
latter, I really don't believe you.

Alton Towers type stuff. Anyone daft enough to ride on pikey type shit
deserves all they get. To me those fairground rides are a bit like
just getting on a 30 year old motorbike and thrashing it along country
lanes without even considering that the tyres etc might be a bit
    'used'.

Lord knows. I _think_ a number of people were up for it, so I assume
it's going ahead, although TBH I just set a rule to move all the mails
to a subfolder that I've hardly looked at.
