Thanks, I'd seen that one. No availability. One of their sister ones,
the Claremont, has rooms from the Thursday, which may be an option, I
    suppose.

Heh. This is precisely the argument I used when you said that
self-catering was a viable option for a cheap skiing holiday, compared
    with a hotel.....[/QUOTE]

Ah, well, you see, I don't view skiing as a holiday, and I don't go
    with anyone who'd need persuading.

And anyway, I only ever said that to show you that there were cheaper
ways than you were doing it - I was trying to do you a favour!

It is going to go *exactly* like one would expect.

Leeds NHS Trust IT are a case in point. They don't know or want to know
anything about Medical Devices. I mean chaps, it's only a Hospital FFS, lets
concentrate on the PA desktops and the Directors laptops.
Ah I do recall something about this
Well to be fair we all just wanted to see you put another footrest through
your leg. It had such unique comedy value and the wound lasted *such* a long
    time.
    Oh I should think so!

Excellent idea and the added cost will filter any UKRM pikeys out of the
    equation

The long haul down through central France is a bind, unless motorail does
    bikes.

TBH I prefer Italy to Spain though and if we stay with PC you just *know* he
is going to float naked in his pool flashing his periwinkle at us.

    <thinks>
Northern France > Switzerland > Northern Italy > Italian Riviera

    Where is Wavey Davy now?

Wonder if the Frogs do one way van hire? pick up in Nice, bikes in back,
    abandon in Calais.

  9. They also don't want to know anything about any software that doesn't
say 'Microsoft' on the box. Our software (in use in all the acute
Trusts - as well as quite a few PCTs) is not working at Leeds because
they can't seem to work out how to install it or set up the firewall
rules to allow it to work - despite the very very simple document we
have telling you how to do precisely that..

NHS IT people fall into 3 categories:

1/ People who do it because they like working in the medical world - often
pretty good at their jobs. Outstandingly rare but worth cultivating
    when you come across them.
2/ People on their first IT job using it to gain experience. The second
most common type and of variable quality.
3/ People who can't get a job doing IT anywhere else and only stay on
becuause it's so difficult to sack them. And there are a *lot* of
    these.

  11. Wrong way to do it: ride down, short-out ECU or other vital ignition
components down there, Auntie Carole recovery back for the bikes,
    Easyjet for the humans.

Oh, and the recovery people will take your luggage, too.

He's t'other side of France, but I'm on that route and you'd be
welcome to crash. Pool should remain usable untilo October or so, at
    least.

You see where I said *mostly*?

I was thinking particularly about you, Bonners and WUN when I entered the
    caveat.

TBF it did take WUN a while to get the hang of it.

  15. You haven't met Cheryl have you?

Put it this way - Bear was frightened of her[1]. And she is only 5'2"

    Phil.

[1] For a very small value of fright I suspect.

No worries. We're about seven hours from the channel, near enough
    Basel for route planning.
But of course. The offer's been outstanding for at least three years
anyway. And generally anyone passing by is welcome, provided
    sufficient notice of course.

As a florist once remarked to me: "Do you really expect me to discount
    roses on Valentine's day?".

If you think Steam Packet's rates are so excessive, why hasn't someone
already jumped into the market and made a bundle by undercutting them?

Because the IOM wouldn't give them harbour space.
Lots of people do small boat trips, but without motorbikes.

Bit of beach and a big hovercraft though, could make a killing ;o)
