a sign of sophistication, getting old[1] or summat else.

Only I seem to have acquired a taste for the fino[2] variant

[1] 48 last Saturday, FFS. I'm now as old as Champ[3] & Lozzo
[2] under £6 a bottle from the Wine Society and very palatable
[3] he kept that quiet last month

It's the only alchol left after you've finished the beer, wine &
    whisky.

And once the sherry's gone, time to start on the Advocaat that's been
there since 1987 and the bottle of Mirage that someone brought to a
    party way back when.

I think the original bottle was just about finished off at your place
    by Windy?

I very nearly brought back a bottle of grappa from Italy but decided
against it on the grounds that I'd take it with us when we go away
this winter and that would be a bad mistake.

I could donate a bottle of Blue Nun some **** gave us years ago and has
since been used to fill a gap between a kitchen cabinet and the wall.
Unopened it is (no surprises there then)

It should really be acid. Epic quantities of very pure acid.

Nice sherry served chilled is as good an experience as Port drinking IMHO

  15. I got a taste for it in Spain, decades ago. Really dry fino, in a tall
glass, chilled, with lots of ice.

Have you got the Wine Society Christmas catalogue yet? Had me drooling,
    it did.

Yes. Deliberately put it straight into the recycling sack whilst saying
    "lalalalala".

Just got off the phone to some bloke from Laithwaites. He called as he was
curious as to why my account had gone dead in recent months. All he could
offer was £20 off a case which brought 12 bottle of Casillero del Diablo
down to £77 delivered. I declined. I like being able to pick & mix from the
Wine Soc list, mostly bottles under £7 with the odd one or two costing
more. The fact they don't add £7 for delivery helps too.

Nice sherry is nice full stop.

I am partial to some chilled, but for others, it is not required.

Aye, but putting ice in it, as TOG describes, seems a waste of the
lovely smooth texture to me. s
