    I have a pdf version of a GL1800 manual, but it's a single file,
69,032KB in size, totalling 757 pages.

Is there any way to split it up by, say, chapter?

That would leave 27 much more friendly bits, which a chap could then
email into work for handy printing.

Can certainly do it on a Mac, slightly surprised if Linux doesn't have
    something similar.

I'd print to pdf, using the pages numbers, IYSWIM

I'm guessing there are restrictions on plugging in flash drives at your
    workplace.

Adobe Acrobat does what you want, but it isn't free. Doubtless there are
some free software solutions for Windows that can do what you want as well,
but I don't know what they are.

On my Linux boxes I can view a PDF in any number of viewers, and print page
ranges to a file, which can quite handily be a PDF file, so it would be
trivial to do what you want. I don't have the means to do that on my
    Windows PCs though.

Yes. Print it all out, choose the chapters/pages that interest you and
then scan them back in. Convert the scan to a PDF and email it. Job
    done.

Doesn't this depend on the rights/security? I think sometimes one can only
    "save to text".

Some of Yamaha's owners manuals available from their website are 'locked' to
prevent printing. It's quite trivial to defeat it, as there are a number of
free online PDF unlocker sites (obviously subject to trust issues if there is
anything sensitive in the file) and downloadable apps are also available to
do the same (potentially even more trust issues w/ Trojan Horses).

Far be it for me to try & save the planet, but why do you need to
print it? I've got several PDF manuals, & when I need to fettle, I
either take the laptop into the garage, or just print the few pages
    I'll need if it's a big job.

General shortage of laptops, not wanting to use Canon ink when there's
    "free" Canon toner available.

  13. Do it with full Acrobat. Simple hit the 'edit PDF' button, and copy
    chunks into a new document.

I've got several manuals as .pdf also, but I can never find the dang
things when I want them. The paper versions otoh I usually can find.
Strange really, 'cos it's the complete opposite for things like music
    and videos.

If I'm doing a big job, I'm usually reading a book, or whatever magazine
    is to hand.

Oh yes? I didn't know that. Wouldn't it only work if the file isn't
    protected though?

I never thought of doing it that way. I've used Primo PDF, also free,
    for several years.

Just seen that this problem has been solved, however a colleague used a
licensed Adobe product to chop the Tiger manual into bits so I could
    magic it onto my Kindle
