Is this legal

The figure I've got is more often than every six months used to be cause
for concern, but the banks are looking into moving it down to avoid the
growing popularity of "move your card to one with 6 months interest free".

 

Bloody con though isn't it - they're losing profit, not exposing themselves
to more risk.

 

I've heard about a couple of cases with 0% cards where the lender sets
up a direct debit for you to pay off the minimum amount each month.
The newly set up direct debit "accidentally" misses the first payment
due to mis-timing, leaving you liable to their full rate of interest as
you have broken the contract by missing a payment.
Those who complain get a refund and reinstatement of the 0% rate, those
who don't are stuffed with a (probably) higher rate than they had before
and a late payment penalty charge.

 

The girlfriend tried to order something from them last week and saw this
too, ended up just ignoring it and buying from elsewhere.
