    I am the original owner of a 1980 CX-500. LAtely it has not been running so
    great. Starts to stumble if I try to get on it and top speed about 50-55;
    60mph downhill. She idles and she cranks right up...I simple hate a few of
    the Honda shops around here and further west, they seem put off to work on
    this bike....Is it a hateful Honda model to work on? Anyway, does anyone out
    there have a CX and or know a shop in this area that would cater to this
    vintage Bike? I would go as far south as richmond or simpy local if it work
    out...

    Does the problem happen any time over 5,000 RPM? If so, it may be the stator
    is going out. This is a very common problem. I just found out this week I
    have to replace the stator in my GL500I (same engine as the CX500). What a
    bummer...

    The tests to diagnose the stator are here:
