The Forgotten Error Morini is running reasonably well now after a
preliminary session on the Morgan manometer. Tickover a bit high, but
throttle response much better now. Sound much weedier on the camcorder
than in reality - only revving it to about 3500 though.

Still some work to do, including lashing up a front plate, but it will
be finished for Hartland on 6th April even though even allowing for
    Easter.

Still time to get a "have a go entry" in (by 25th March). One day
licence/ NHCA membership and entry fee deal for speed hill climb
    virgins.

  2. Jolly good.

Hauled the SOBoxer out of the shed today. Battery about 50% dead, jump
leads off a bigger one and a bit of turning and it fired up OK. It's not
been run for about 6 months. I guess it could use an oil change, at that.

Spose I'll have to re-tax it now, in case there's any fair weather to ride
    in.

  5. Sounds good. I wonder if I was the only person listening out of a
    "rattle-BANG!" sound?

    In communiqué <1ie1ftx.nynd45hqzrcyN%>,
    <G>
The bottom end of this motor was rebuilt by the late Phil Smith. It has
already survived several Cadwell track days, and a thrash across the
Mountain on closed roads at the Manx in 2005.

The tappets are a bit clattery, but I run racing clearances as
recommended by Phil with the L5 cam.

Slightly concerned about something going down one of the intake elbows
though. They were well tucked away under the 2C tank. Must see if you
can still get coarse grid protected velocity stacks to wedge in the
ends. I don't like running Morinis on K&Ns due to the front facing rear
    carb IYSWIM.

  8. heh.

It's in school term-time, which makes it a bit tricky. not sure if that's
so every year, but it is this year. For some odd reason, term ends on
    Tuesday 22nd this year.

I have a rather large sheet of 1.6mm hole stainless steel mesh. I can
send you a chunk if you need it.

Bloody useful stuff it is too, made a good mesh screen for the Zephyrs
flaky oil cooler, and a finer screen to protect the VFR's new lower
    radiator.
