Forty years next week since the demise of £sd.

It won't be long before all those who insist it was so much better have
    died of old age.

I hope not. I'm planning another 30 at least.

Dunno, but he and the unbearably smug Sheila Dillon are the only two R4
    items I'd happily assasinate.

That sounds brilliant; I'm a big fan of Young's Double Chocolate
Stout, although I can't find it down here in Winch. All I need now
    is a local Morrison's...

  6. And you could divide a pound exactly by three. Six shillings and
    eightpence, it was.[/QUOTE]

    Also by 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 16 and 20.

I just turned off some "comedian" who appeared to be whipping himself up

You could divide it by two, three, four, five, six, eight, ten, twelve,
fifteen, thirty, sixty and one hundred and twenty, and if you're
prepared to accept a ha'penny and a farthing, four hundred and eighty
    and nine hundred and sixty.

Possibly. But not, IMO, either funny or interesting.

If people got their water companies to put the bills in his name without
asking him, I might have sympathised with the indignation. As it was, I
tried to wait for some hint that he wasn't suprised, but failed to keep
    interested long enough.

  11. I quite enjoyed it, too. Lot of truth in it, innit.

  13. Ditto, but I was first decimalised in about 1960 in Sarf Efrika. then
    again here.

  16. 'tis rather good. (though I did once have a Titanic beer I didn't like -
    came as a shock).
I uster drink that 'cos there is/was? a Young's outlet (Horts in Brissle)
that I used to go to to get 4 for a fiver (carryout). But I've not been
    there for a bit.
