No pay at the pump then?

annoyingly uncommon over here - the fashion is to have an ever growing
range of groceries and no express till for those just paying for petrol.

Oddly, Tesco, the largest grocery chain does have pay at pump at most of
its sites. Cunting Waitrose, near me, doesn't and they want you to remove
    the helmet so **** them.

In central London a lot of the pumps (including the one I was trying to
use at the time) have pay at pump installed but they leave it disabled
    for no good discernible reason.

My local Shell garage, otoh, seems to have just enabled it on theirs.
    Which was nice.

Unlike Tesco, that let you fill the tank, walk in and then refuse to take
your money until you remove helmet, fucking stupid ! *And* when you ask
    why, "company policy"....

The conversion is already done, the terminals are just disabled. It
usually says so on the screen where it would otherwise say "Pay at
    pump".

They'd say it is the cost to convert to chip & PIN but are only using it as
an excuse to get you in the shop
I wish my local Esso would. Being on the A40, in the centre of town and
only a minute from the S Wales "Box Hill" it gets a bit busy.

"I'm offering to pay, and you're refusing my valid form of payment -
that can only mean you would like me to accept the petrol as a gift.
    Thank you very much, goodbye."

Yes, I played that game just after Waitrose took over the shop from
Safeway. Apparently, waving a Halifax VISA card can be considered
threatening. They gave in when I started writing my phone number on a
newspaper. Should've let Morrisons[1] have the store, stupid MMC.

[1] who will, hopefully, get planning permisssion to build on the old
Coopers Filter factory across the road, which should **** over Waitrose and
their snobby attitude. Hoorah for the Welsh Assembly.

The last time I had a Big Mace was also the first time. I wasn't inclined to
try another. Now in Sweden they have a chain of burger outlests called
"Sybilla" and they're absolutely fanastic burgers. Shame they're not over
    here.

I used to have one every other year or so, always on long solo bike
trips, often on a Sunday, as in France they tend to put them close to
main roads and petrol stations. Somehow in those circumstances a big
mac, large fries, large full-fat coke, no ice, was _exactly_ the right
    meal for the occasion.

This is exactly what I did on the way back from Chimay, I just needed
something to eat quickly and it was a Sunday afternoon in France, and
couldn't be bothered diverting oof the road I was on. No brainer
    really.

    France needs more KFC's IMHO.

I always use Tesco near me for the bike, because they have pay at
pump. But always Sainsbury for the car because they have a sensibly
designed forecourt that means you can get a car between the cars that
are at the pumps. Meaning you can get to the pump in front of someone
already at the back one, or get out without waiting for the one in
front to move. Saves a huge amount of queuing.

The Esso across the road from the office has recently had P@P installed
but they're too fucking expensive so I don't use them anyway.
