Thanks to whoever suggested Bradex Easy Start

Bit of an odd experience watching it tick over with no fuel tank and
half the airbox missing, but it seems to run just fine now. Phew!

The AA set fire to my Alfa with that stuff. It seems no matter how much
you use, it won't make an engine run with a cracked distributor cap.

How did the AA guy not spot the cracked distributor cap before
    spraying the Easi-Start around??[/QUOTE]

Because he was a total retard who didn't think to check. Tbf though it
was a hairline crack on the inside, which caused the elektrickery to
track to the wrong plug at the wrong time. I think his training
probably consisted of 'if it won't start, empty a can of Easy Start
into it. If it still won't start, call for a flat-bed'. Which is
exactly what he did, other than a slight diversion with a fire
    extinguisher.
