It seemed like a good idea at the time.....

  1. Part 1.

Just got back from being away for 2 weeks. Deb had something she thinks was
a flea jump on her in the garage. As we have cats (who are regularly
treated with flea prevention stuff) this isn't totally unexpected, but
neither usual or desirable. No problems say I as I run around merrily
spreading flea powder on the floor around the edges and between the bikes.
Pity flea powder is largely talcum, and on slick concrete it becomes rather
slippery. Oh well, seemed like a good idea at the time...

    Part 2.

Deb doesn't like the floor with the slippery powder on it, so she decides to
sweep it up. Unfortunately this now distributes the powder all over the
non-slippery parts of the floor as well, and embeds tiny little talc
particles into whatever gaps there were in the concrete surface. At least
it is now uniformly slippery. Oh dear, it did seem like a good idea at the
    time.....

    Upshot

Getting the bikes out of the garage is now an exercise somewhat like skating
on wet ice. Looks like I'll have to hose out the garage floor or at least
vacuume it thoroughly, and see how it goes. Sigh.....

Bugger. One day you'll look back on this and find it hysterically funny. In
the meantime, stay upright as you get those bikes out!

Suggest you put down old towels, sheets etc. and roll the bikes out
over the towels. If will give your feet and tyres grip and if you do
dump it it may mean less scratches. Then vacuum and hose. Then
    paint the garage floor!

Before you paint the floor don't forget to acid etch it. Otherwise the
    paint wont stick.

I was thinking of acid etching if the hosing didn't work. If I do that, no
    need to paint!

Almost as good as the time myself and a workmate polished all the floors
in the station with what we thought was floor polish. Same colour,
    consistency, etc.

It was Armour-All. Turned the bloody place into an ice skating rink!

They had to strip all the floors and start again...

Reminds me of the time I used the old pump-style fly-spray. Filled it
and sprayed around the house. After about three rooms I thought that
smells different but familiar. Mortein and Marveer come in identically
shaped and coloured bottles. So all our flies were polished, but not
    polished off.

Back in my batchelor days I was ironing a work-shirt and I sprayed it
    liberally with some spray-starch from a pump-pack.
It smelt quite strongly and the fumes coming up into my helmet were
making my eyes water but it wasn't until I was actually at work and
had woken up a bit that I remembered using an old spray-starch pump-
pack to spray kero on some oil on my bike!
The kero got the wrinkles out of the shirt though!!

And with a suitably inserted mop handle, you wouldn't have to bend
    over...
