It seems to be the season for that kind of letter

Front suspension at about 100k? Certainly. Cheap and straightforward to do
though, even on your drive. Engines shouldn't really need a 'rebuild' under
    200k unless not serviced correctly.
The 'S' series lumps _are_ really racing engines though after all, so you
can't compare them with cooking models. As you know, the M30 lump from which
various 'S' engines evolved can reach well over 450k with no bore or crank
problems at all when in standard form.
Agreed on the shape, and they are without a doubt the most expensive BMW to
own in my view. It would be sacrilege to use a good 635 as a daily driver
all year round in the UK. They rot badly enough as it is and good ones are
now very scarce indeed. They are my personal fav, but I'd only have one as a
summer toy (no way could I afford the bloody fuel they drink for more than a
    couple of months a year).

  7. Bermin'am Motor Works - it could so easily have been, but the M5 would
have been a 5 seater Minor.

    That's what I've been wondering. I mean, I know that it's the weird &
wonderful web but the sheer number of people stripping them down at
what I'd consider minor mileage has me a tad worried. Remember that 540
we talked/emailed about? The exploding slushboxes seem to be pretty
    exclusive to Germany, too.

Mind ewe, BMW drivers do have a certain reputation in Germany.
I know, I know. And it also very much depends on the idiot behind the
    wheel.
Again, I know that but an E34 535i isn't exactly the most economical
car around, either. But the rust resistance (or rather, the lack
thereof) is what seriously puts me off of 6-series ownership. At least,
until I can afford a dry barn to store one it.
