For ages I've had a Nokia 6600 sitting doing nothing at home 'cos I
preferred the simplicity and efficieny of my Nokia 6310i, but Bears
recent 'phone related post remided me of the 6600's inactive situation.

Having already got a bluetooth GPS receiver I decided to get TomTom
Mobile 5 [1] for the phone, having used Tomtom on my Ipaq.

It works a treat, and will be a more compact solution for using on the
    bike than my Ipaq.

    [1] cough ... from ebay

    Bear fumbled, fiddled and fingered:
A short while back you were talking of upgrading your trusty 6310i and I
mentioned having a 6600 but going back to my 6310i 'cos "it just did
what it said on the tin"

That post remided me of the poor old 6600 so I thought I'd best try and
get to use it, hence the GPS stuff on it :)

    Heh. Quality reading, IMNSHO.

I liked "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency", too:

"The Electric Monk was a labour-saving device, like a dishwasher or a
video recorder. Dishwashers washed tedious dishes for you, thus saving
you the bother of washing them yourself, video recorders watched tedious
television for you, thus saving you the bother of looking at it
yourself; Electric Monks believed things for you, thus saving you what
was becoming an increasingly onerous task, that of believing all the
things the world expected you to believe."

The helmet speaker from my Sat-Nav went SNAFU while touring Wales
yesterday. Although at first, the new-found silence was relaxingly
comfortable, after a while I got to miss the the old cow rabbiting in
my ear all the time. Its a bit like coming home one day to find the
    wife has left you.
