    .... my new bike lift.

Right, off to the garage to play. :)

It was a bit traumatic transporting it home in a Seat Ibiza, mind.

I'm sure it was more "out" than "in", iyswim.

What a revelation. Makes working on the bike *so* much easier.

No more lying under the bloody thing trying to get at awkward bolts.

I can even sit on me little wheelie stool.

It does sway a bit disconcertingly, though, and it's very difficult to
    get:

a: the Wing onto the ramp.
b: get off the Wing once it's up there.

    Clutch cover now off!

    Only took two hours.

Alternator had to come off first, obviously.

Now to go and remove the clutch itself.

It's all exciting stuff in E14, you know.

Right, the clutch is out. :) No going back now.[1]

Bit of a bind, needed more than two grunts to undo the 32mm centre
    nut.

A list of questions now presents itself:

1: where can I buy a vice tomorrow? B&Q? The small one on the bench
isn't "deep" enough to compress the centre, and spring.
2: similarly - circlip pliers. My pair appear to have no pointy bit on
    one arm.
3: is it okay to re-use a "staked" nut? Loctite?
4: gasket - always use a new one? How do get the old one off? Stanley
    knife blade?

[1] The prime suspect - the worm drive - is fine. Must be the spring.
    The basket isn't notched, afaict.

  13. If you get a big one make sure a rear wheel will fit. You can use it for
    bead busting.

Re-Stake the lock nut with a centre punch.
Yes and something like nail varnish remover.
What was wrong with it in the first place? What sort of clutch is it?

Slippy under power. Spring certainly seems strong, seeing as I can't
compress it. Wet multiplate - 17 plates. Can't inspect the plates yet.

You're actually not supposed to do burnouts when getting the bike on the
    lift, you know.

    <thinks>

You *did* lower the lift before putting the bike on it, right?

    I know.
    Right.

The problem is with the clamp for the front wheel.

It's not visible from the saddle. So, having taken a run-up at the
ramp, to stop it being pushed deeper into the garage, it then hits the
clamp, and stops - with the rear wheel half-way up the ramp.

Of course, attempting to go on, with the front tyre against an object,
    causes wheelspin.

Then, of course, there's nowhere to put your feet, when it's up there.
Makes getting off, and putting it on the centre stand, a fairly
    nerve-wracking experience.

    Still, it's up there now.
