It'll be interesting to see how they make a Pan Euro out of that...

    Spesh!

What's that big chrome funnel thing where the exhaust should be?

Does anyone else get a sense of claustrophobia looking at those pics?
It's really hard to get a good look at the bike because the camera
angles and cropping are so wrong.

It's full of funny "styling rather than design" features and the
fairing is very whale like, or perhaps akin to the chubby jowl of a
    politician.

Those pillion grab handles are pretty much useless, they're the wrong
way round FFS. The acceleration of a 500 let alone a 1200 would be
more than enough to see your hands slide right off the back of those
once your bum has lost grip.

That said, we often react like this to new styling when it comes along
and it slowly becomes normal and somehow widely liked. Mind you I
still don't like any of the Chris Bangle BMW cars.

apart from the exhaust, I don't mind the looks.

    Woefully underpowered though.

I'm tempted, but I am reminded of the advice never to buy version 1.0 of
    anything.

"Honda dealers are included in the sat nav's 'places of interest' built-in
    software"

"Fuel Tank Capacity 18,5 litres". Not what I'd call sufficient for a
touring bike. The FJR tank is 25 litres.

....and that exhaust would have to go.

I dunno, 170bhp must rate as "adequate", surely?

    <fx: sheepish look>

ah - I missed the fact that the "127" in the quoted specification was
    Kw, not PS

    yeah. 170bhp would "do".

I believe this to be a patented "aftermarket exhaust sales booster"
    solution.

WTF, indeed. A friend of mine said "Well, the bike is not that bad"
    when I showed
her the photos. Turns out she didn't notice the exhaust. ;-)

Oh well, this year I wouldn't be able to afford it, anyway, I'll get
    me a Paneuro and in
10 years when the VFR1200 gets a bit cheaper I'll buy one with an
    aftermarket exhaust.

Assuming it'll still be legal to ride a bike on public roads in the
    EU, of course.

At the other end, I suspect some helpful soul has added a "1".

The ability to go from 80 to 120 in top gear isn't a testament to the
engine's spread of torque. The CBX will do that, ffs. Probably.

    20 to 120 might be.

my RX-8 will do 20 to 150 in 5th[1], no problem. This probably isn't
    helping the current discussion, mind.

[1] 6th is no real use below 60mph, it has to be admitted.
