When I was a teenager, still living with my parents, I had a 3 hour
VHS tape which I've painstakingly compiled videos and live music
performances from the likes of The Tube, Old Grey Whistle Test etc.
over a period of maybe 4-5 years.

Then my dad did in fact record Coronation Street over it.

He also (admittedly by mistake) threw away my prog#2 to approx prog.
300 collection of 2000AD, including the "banned" "Cursed Earth/Burger
    Wars" series.

  17. Good man. The Imperial War Museum would be *very* interested in having a
copy. My mate's Dad was a PoW of Nippon and some twenty five years ago
recorded all of his recollections on tape for them, at their request.
Somebody there was on the ball and realised the Forgotten Army vets were
starting to die off and it was time to get as many as possible to spill
    what they could.
Interestingly, in a massive book on Far Eastern PoWs I read a credit to
him in the index - along with hundreds of others, of course. I think the
research material for the book was done by listening to many of those
tapes, among other sources and personal interviews.

I know the hard way that was necessary, but it was easy to put back.
