  1. Ah, is that what it was, I couldn't make out from the pic. That's a real
shame, they are gorgeous shrubs. Short lived, though, so that might be why
    it fell over.

Yes they connect at the lower sleeve, when not in use they zip away.

Think yourself lucky. Around the Bristol area they mix molasses in with the
grit so it stays on the road longer. Consequently it's also a complete
    bastard to clean off.

  4. I know what you mean. I had to put a long sleeved shirt on today!

I had to put a jacket on.

The original pic was taken with a 2Mpixel Nokia 6288... better than my

  7. That and the fact that it was peeping more and more over the parapet
as I let it grow, so a fair leverage -- and as our technician pointed out,
the proximity to the brick retaining wall meant it had no roots on that
side (nothing bigger than a matchstick, but there's something going straight
    down holding the stump):

It's a bit difficult to see in the photo, but the light region
extending over the first grij door is where the branches had been rubbing
    the moss off the roof:

  8. Lopsided. So a gust would get it nicely. As you say, especially with all
that top growth. You *might* have saved it, but hard work.
Good ad for Wickes, that. :)
Blimey. One of the dark blue ones, was it? What will you plant instead?

That juniper is looking a bit rubbish. You probably need to think about
hoicking it out and replacing it.

It's not that cold, and it's only a dozen or so miles to the office, and the
penguin jacket has been pretty comfy through the winter so far.

There's something wrong about a platypus wearing a penguin - should
    involve the RSPCA at least.

  20. The one on the right is an eleagnus ebbingeii, I think. I suspect that the
monotreme thought the ceanothus was a juniper. :)
