I've regularly sat on the same R1 and R6 that he won on too - they're
    in my old boss's collection.

    Technically it's not an R1 - it's an R1 engine in a modified R7
chassis. DJ still casts a long shadow at this company.

Oh, and they paid me to go to the TT.

Talking of R7s, there's a mint one in Flitwick M/cycles for sale. I
think it has less than 1000 miles on the clock and is in standard road
trim, £15K to anyone who fancies it.

Am I right in thinking that that's a hell of a lot of money for what
is, in truth, a spectacularly underpowered but very nice rare and
exotic machine? IIRC they needed the race kit (only another £7k?,
from Yamaha, and only if you could prove you were going to race it) to
    release the horses properly.

This one has the race kit fitted to release the horses, or so I'm told.
Anyone could buy the race kit direct from their Yamaha dealer.

I'd like all 3 of the bikes they're advertising, espacially the all
    white one.

I'd still pay £15K for one if I had that sort of cash to spunk on toys.
    Same goes for an RC30.
Very nice bikes, Flitwick M/cs have a couple of R7/1s lying around that
    they've raced.
I've got one of those now, but it's not quite in the same vein. Where
they stuck lights on a race bike and stuck it on the road, I took the
lights off a quick but lardy sports-tourer and stuck it on track.

Sticky plates? When was the oil last changed?

I changed it last year, the bike had done about 50 miles since then
before Bear took it to the IoM

I reckon the clutch could need a strip down to see what the problem is.

To a certain extent my ZX12R is like that as SWMBO let me have it for 2k and
from what I've seen of similar age/mileage they vary between 3 to 3.5k :)

Took it out yesterday and it's a scary buzz how the back slides out when
heavily leaned over if you're cack handed with the throttle :)

I'm not sure I understand having a bike "you don't mind crashing". I
mean, as mentioned in a thread elsewhere, they're all just bits of
metal and plastic that can be replaced and it's *me* I'm mainly worried
    about breaking in a crash.

Tell us something we don't know!
Newish I can do; niceish however...well, *I* like my bike.[1]

If it went down the road, however, I'd just claim and get it repaired
    or get another one.

[1] Even if darsy did call it a "slab sided 80s throw-back" or some
    such.

Ah, right then. I misunderstood your use of "standard road trim", and
misremembered some other stuff. I can't imagine that there are many
out there that haven't had the race kit mods done then, apart from one
or two bought as keepers perhaps and therefore not used.

Ah, sorry, by standard road trim I meant it wasn't a race bike, still
has the full rear mudguard fitted etc. I don't know of any that haven't
had the race kit fitted or been tuned in some way, and I know of about
10 of them in road going trim.
