Yup! Twice.... I asked the managery person id they stocked it, and he
said they didn't but he'd suggest it. So far no luck. :-(

I have been facinated by the recumbant idea, but I do have to admit to
worrying about the safety of them.

This one didn't even have a big stick with flag on the end, and, from
the rear presented a very small target indeed.
It looked well into the class of, if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

I couldn't see any obvious adjustment for the length of the riders legs
so assume that it is custom built, as in having to go for "fittings".

If you are interested, I could e-mail you a piccie or two of it.

People don't see you on a pushbike because you are tall, they see you
    because they are looking.

Ask any 'bent rider about how visible their bikes are in traffic.

The amount you can see on them is less, but I'm told that's much less of
a problem than you might think.

I have been wondering about getting one now I work somewhere where
    cycling to work is a possibility, I suspect I'd want a 2 not a 3 wheeler
for lanesplitting duties - not enough bike lanes on the obvious route
    and none on any other.

Hmm - I'd still prefer to get my visuals from a foot or two above the normal
car roof than from door handle height, especially when lanesplitting. I
used to cycle from N.Ryde to N.Sydney and back every day for a few years and
swear that I'm still alive only through very careful watching from that
height. You're right about the watching bit though. To assist in
visibility I hang an annoying flashing light on the back of my helmet... :)

It would be interesting to talk to people who ride both though.

    Cheers,
    Dave

Door handle height? That's not a real recumbant....

Try wheel nut height, and the lowest of them at that.

Trouble is, a decent recumbent costs well into the league that you and I

A second hand small one under a grand. A top line new one 7 grand.

Between those two figures, there are a few choices...
