Anyone know where to get Jack daniels cheaper'n wot the supermarkets are charging?
My toilet bowl. Trust me, you won't be able to tell the difference, especially if you're a 'Rockschool' drinker. -- Veggie Dave http://www.iq18films.co.uk "To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin." Cardinal Bellarmine
I've been searching for a few days as it's my stepdad's tipple of choice. Cheapest I found was Sainsburys at £15 for 1/2 litre. Outrageous, so he's got a 750cl bottle of Jim Beam and a 750cl bottle of Southern Comfort for £15 each. He'll be having a merry xmas at least..
When I checked late a/noon Sainsburys had it at £10.75, £18 & £27-something. In these times of austerity I might have to settle for cheap own brand bourbon. Asda have Deep South whiskey under £10 but the product info doesn't say how many %.
Equivalent to JD or equivalent to a generic American whiskey? Might do though - what brand label do they go by?
I have not looked at either, but I reckon you'd be on the right lines if you looked for Tesco Bourbon in Tesco and Waitrose Bourbon in Waitrose. I know they are both wild-arsed guesses on my part but I reckon I've got a better than evens chance of being right
Though having looked, neither of them are... Anyway, Tesco have the 70cl bottles at 2 for £25 from tomorrow
(Ian Field) complained Anyone know where to get Jack daniels cheaper'n wot the supermarkets are charging? Isn't that just like life--I quit drinking and Jack's distillery is just about 40 miles from here--They used to give FREE pints if you took a tour but it's a dry county now. They can make it but not sale it. Duty free is about the only place really. I drink of lot of bourbon, but I don't generally pay the prices that JD now goes for. Although I prefer the taste to the others, if I'm going to mix it with cola, then it really doesn't matter that much, so I end up with Jim Beam or Sainsbury's own, which is OK. Not a patch on the real thing in some ways, but better on the pocket. If I'm drinking it neat or with ice, then I'd rather have JD, so it waits until I fly somewhere to stock up.
As Gyp pointed out Tesco are running JD at 2 for £25 which is only a couple of quid more than cheap own brand bourbon. They're also doing a case of 24 cans Boddingtons for £10 - the saving on that resulted in more JDs than was originally planned.
