Has anyone tried these? Anyone I have spoken to simply says "They're shite,
get a new Neta" My Neta is falling to bits but will hopefully last until
winter and I fancy the idea of twin pipes but at £220 - when I last looked -
I don't want them falling apart. It's a SO XJ600 if that makes any
    difference.

I've seen them on a number of bikes and as replica systems, they seem
OK to me. The worst thing is that they put the Jama name, logo and
other blurb right on the upper side of the silencer can, where it looks
    gash.

£220 is roughly what you'd pay for a 4-1 system, so I'd gofor it.

Tip: pour some old sump oil down the silencers before fitting, swill
around, and drain. It'll smoke a bit to begin with, but they'll last a
    lot longer.

    So it smokes of course.

Natch it would be much better with Castrol R, for the smell.

Because the insides of the cans will be coated with oil, like a
two-stroke pipe, and thus less prone to rotting from the inside. YTC.

so they don't rust from the inside out, due to the water content in
the cooled exhaust gasses when you switch the engine off.

    Even *I* know that.

And you're the third person to say so. Personally, I have my doubts.
As mentioned elsewhere the pipes will smoke for a while until the oil
burns off, but surely at that point it won't be offering any sort of
    corrosion protection?

Happy memories. I used to put a spoon full of 'R' in the tank of the G2
for that tang of the cinder oval way back when I regularly cheered on
    Nigel Boocock & co.

    The oil won't completely burn off - end can's don't get /that/ hot; I
reckon it will leave a sort of carbonised layer on the inside of the
silencers, which stops the condensed water vapour getting at the
    metal.

    *bzzt*

Any water in the exhaust gasses is either a product of the oxidisation
of the hydrocarbon's in the fuel, or water vapour that's managed to
get sucked the whole way through the combustion process from the air
    intake.

Go to Chimay and mainline on the stuff.

Tesco bags. I had one melt onto the can of me Old VT. From then on I
was carrying round a faint but readable advert for them.

I reckon shoving a pair of old boots down the cans would offer superior
protection. When boots melt on the outside of the cans, it's a **** to
remove the residue, no matter how hot the cans get, so a thorough coating on
the inside should see the cans last forever.

Indeed and a little easier to insert too.

I never gave them things a thought because I rarely see 'em, let alone use
    'em. Being a norverner anawl.

  18. I think it works to a certain extent, but would have to be done every
couple of thousand miles for long term protection. Stroker exhausts seem
    to do well on it.
