A work colleague once suggested pouring red oxide primer down exhausts
for that very reason. I doubt that it was ever put to the test,
though.

 

Fukme, I agree with darsy. That's a lot of tosh Neal. Petrol
doesn't contain water, water's a product of the combustion process -- the
hydrogen of the hydrocarbons combine with oxygen to produce water, the
carbons produce carbon dioxide (or, in the absence of sufficient oxygen,
carbon monoxide). And the reason for "white smoke" -- aka steam -- when
cold is more to do with the fact that the whole system isn't up to
temperature (duh! -- it's cold) so it's easier for the water vapour to
cool into droplets of steam than when everything's hotter than a
Brazilian's bum after a night drinking my home-made chili vodka.

The occasional tincture of Redex or 2T seems to help preserve the
pipes on the inside. Shame about V&H's shit chrome on the outside.

 

Of course petrol contains bloody water. There's a reason for the
involvement of Jet stations too - and it is all down to the market
satisfying you Kawasaki riders and your love of carb icing. I expect
they'll be putting heavier water in there now, so as to compensate for
the effects of fuel injection.
