    I have purchased one shiny new SV650S in blue complete with Datatool system
    3 and scottoiler for £4300 all in. Collect next saturday.

    I took their demo bike for a ride up the uxbridge road and my thoughts were;

    - very smooth fuel injection from stop.
    - 1st gear goes on for a lot longer then CB500, had to remind myself to
    shift up. can see myself spending a lot of time in 1st in town as it does
    the job.
    - VERY different sound makes it hard to hear if i'm in the wrong gear.
    - very smooth accelaration from stop, unlike the CB.
    - no 'rush' when you get to a certain rpm, just a steady pull. this makes it
    slightly less 'exciting' but more predictable.
    - it didn't feel as 'chuckable' as the CB, maybe i just need to gain
    confidence with it.
    - back stepped out slightly on a down shift, guess i need to match up my
    revs better.
    - felt like more power then i would need as it never felt on the limit
    - comes with dunlop (i forget the exact model)
    - gear box felt nice, although i only got upto 3rd.
    - not much room under the rear seat.
    - exhuast looks like it will need lopping off if i want a new can. could be
    a problem come MOT time :(
    - rear mudguard/number plate hanger is hideous and needs lopping off.

    The salemen recommended Suzukis specialised insurance, so i shall ring then
    and see if they can beat bennetts. I now need to purchase a "**** off and
    die thief ****" lock

    I expect you'll all want to place bets on how long before i lob it down the
    road :)

    Much nicer.

    My SV had a rush - from about 7000RPM - would be surprised if the FI model
    doesn't have some sort of sweet spot...

    Do you read the replies you get to your posts? I stated that was the case.
    Most manufacturers supply a sleeve into which you can stick your
    standard exhaust and two jubilee clips to tighten it all up - Immediately
    transforms it to standard. 10 minute job at most.
    **** no - you're going to blow it up long before that.

    I really must stop replying to your posts... I'm starting to appear
    obsessive...

    Not at the bottom of the rev range absolutely not - I see if the bikes got
    any bloody power!

    Hold up, I am missing something here.. when i bought my used bandit it came
    with a carbon can with pipe and the original, both connect at the collector
    box, when I change between them it is a sod and fucks the collector box
    gasket.

    Sound like your saying some exhaust connect at the can? interesting!

  10. I'd rather not tempt fate.

    Can I recommend one other essential purchase - *please* go and get some
    further training. Your riding history to date is not what you'd call
    marvellous. It would not be good news for you or your insurance record
    if you do anything serious to yourself or your new bike.

    Nice one!
    Get yourself down to your local master locksmith and save a bundle on
    branded M/C stuff.

    I was recommended (by 2 off) the Viro 4230 chain lock like this
    www.bikerchain.co.uk/bikerspec.htm#4230 and 1.5 metres of 10mm hardened
    chain. The lock is a combination of steel hardened right through and brass
    and it deforms under impact. I was told this design makes it resistant to
    single stage attack by cutting\grinding\freezing etc.
    As for chain, 8 to 10mm seriously hardened is all it's worth doing. Only
    high end hydraulic croppers will go through it and a decent grinder/diamond
    blade will have 2mm or 20mm. Anything bigger is a bitch to carry anyway.
    Again the locksmith can supply.

    If I'm worried I use this combination to immobilise and secure the bike to
    street furniture through the rear wheel/swinging arm and an Abus Granite
    type U shackle through the front wheel/disks around the front forks.
    Is now the time to fit a cheapo can and a set of ARD colour impreg pattern
    bodywork?

    Same here. Except the Thou is confusing me because at 4k rpm it
    sounds like the 750 at 8k. Just as well it's got so much torque.

    And quote of the day today from a ZX636R rider stopped at the traffic
    lights in Henley:

    "**** me, that thing is quick"
