I'm afraid google stopped being useful as an archive *and* search tool
for USENET at least a year ago.

    http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2009/10/usenet

The claimed fix has not actually happened yet, 6 months later.

Try search for a word you know you personally have used in this group,
and you'll probably not find any matches.

Friend of mine has a set of MTb shorts which have detachable padded
    insides, seems to do OK.

I used to wear lycra with padding when I regularly commuted on an
upright, the first ride using them convinced me it was the way to go.

Now of course I don't need the padding... I wear woolen longs in the
winter and cargo shorts in the summer.

THe longs are good for motorcycle wear under jeans in the winter!

Might have to spring for another set full price, Torpedo 7 had 'em on
special a couple of years ago.

ObMoto: put the towbar back on the Noggie today, thing's damn near a
    car!

  8. How would you like to be teaching motor mechanics specializing in two
strokes in a nudist colony Cam ?

Then you wouldn't have to worry about no cam gear

Congratulations. So where are you teaching? Anywhere near my
grandchildren? I will need to warn them. "Teacher Betty don't take no
    shit".

Restores yer faith in human nature, that does. Well done. Unless someone
on staff, being helpy, said: "Oh yeah, her, she's Betty Vermeulen, can
easy out-ride that wooss of a bother of hers" in which case they hired
you for your imaginary motorcycling talent and you're now in deep doo-doo.

LOL Andrew, I'm not so sure! Poor Chris V seems to have fallen off HIS bike
far more than I have in recent times, ha ha ha!

I resigned from the Pubic Service today, effective 16 April. It felt
goooooood! The Big Boss did his usual hierarchical bullshit thing, and told
my Section Head to pass on his congratulations, despite his office being
only 20 feet from my workstation (and I've been in the bloody department
longer than HE has, FFS! Would it be so very painful to come out of his
ivory tower for 45 seconds?) Heaven forbid he should actually speak to a
minion. I mean, even the uber-conservative Jim Hacker Headmaster at my new
school will actually TALK to me in person... That sort of capped everything
off, really. I thought "Betty, ol girl, you did the right thing."

Oh, and the school emailed me my contract. As well as a bit of professional
respect, I'll be earning 20K more there than I am as a pube. (Yeah, I know
I'll have to work a hundred times harder for it, but it's (mostly) work I
love doing.) Will be good to not struggle with bills anymore. Maybe I can
actually afford some decent heating for my freezing Canberra house!

Thanks Gerry, tee hee! I found it amusing that yesterday's news here had a
story about 3 rampaging teens (14 and 15 yrs old) who attacked teachers,
students and windows with golf clubs at a local school. Fark. 'WTF am I
    getting myself into?' I thought....

Maybe that bike helmet WOULD be an asset in the classroom, no matter WHAT
    the headmaster thinks!!!!

  17. Sounds good. Looks like we are both into life changes. I just need
somewhere permanent to live now and I'll be one happy little
    KevvyBear.

Checked a place out in Bondi tonight. $240 plus bills. It was
bollocks. Obviously paying for the 5 minute walk to Bondi Beach. Sod
that. Unless I can see the beach out my window, I am not paying that.
I'll finid a sharehouse hovel in the city and use funds for fun at
    weekends.

Gee, thanks George, but no thanks - Richardson's half way to bloody Cooma!
(and my new job isn't....) I will remain a northsider for the foreseeable
    future...

Congratulations this proves your new employer values you more than
your old one. You were right to give them the boot. Hold on a minute
    - when you started this thread you were feeling gutted because you
didn't think you got the job. Now your article will have to be titled
"how I got a massive pay increase by turning up to a job interview in
full bike gear". Should the "by" be replaced with "despite" or even
    "regardless of"?

I still haven't managed to find out WHAT you are actually teaching.
English? Anyway, I'm sure you whip the little blighters in to line (I
    assume you can do that).

Good luck with the new job.
