  3. Ball and Chain in Salamanca.
    Alley Cat in North Hobart.
Jack Daniels marinated steak at The Republic in North Hobart.
The Ocean Child used to have the best steaks in the world a few years
back but now unfortunately the chef is working at Smack's cafeteria at
the ABC. I'd hope his lunches are nice coz that man knows how to good
    steak.

We've eaten at the Ball and Chain - not too shabby at all! Whatever
happened to Mr Woobie's? It seems to have closed....

North Hobart is not too far from where we're going to be living.
Thanks for the heads-up! The mexican place there is pretty good.

and when I was down in July I found the BESTEST EVER scallop pies.
Although the pub / wood fire / general ambience on a cold day could
    have persuaded me!

  6. It has moved to the other side of Salamanca Square and is nowhere as
good as it used to be.
    Amigos?

It was damn good 15 years ago and then turned to crap. I haven't been
there for 5 years though so maybe it has picked its game up. Try
Annapurna in North Hobart too, if you like Indian food. They are
exceptional. Avoid Annapurna in Salamanca though.

If your talking about the tea lady, he's long gone from the ABC. He knew how
to make a decent sandwich, unlike the tightarse woman running it now.

  8. Yeah - I was referring to Brett. Didn't know he had left.

He set up Dicky White's Bistro in Launceston around 1980 and was the
first decent steak house in Launceston.

    Wonder where he is now?

  10. A bunch of old farts are planning to see in the new year at Lake Peddar.
May have to plan a ride around then.

  11. Between Chicken and Camembert pies, and Scallop pies, I've put on 3 kg
    since being down here.

Never seen so many eateries in such a small area.
