The Apple site doesn't mention it. It's a joke Joyce.

    Another pointless 'innovation' from Apple.
I used to be indifferent to Apple, but now I'm beginning to loathe them.

I don't see why - Apple products are so lame, it really makes little
difference whether theyre real or imagined.

    I see no reason to.

I gave Apple more than a fair chance about 5 years ago, and I found their
G4 and G5's high on build quality and inferior in every other respect, at
least until I ran Linux instead of OSX. That made a massive improvment
but ultimately there is/was better bang for the buck with PCs.

Ditto. I gave them the best part of a year after they switched to
Intel to get it right, and bought a 2GHz core 2 duo machine with my
own money (the first time in 15 years I've done that!). That worthless
piece of shit is in the drawer with all of the P2 and P3 (ie: several
generations older) laptops that I can't chuck away yet but aren't
actually useful. In the 20 years I've worked in this game, I've never
seen a computer consigned to the scrapheap faster. I worked at making
the bastard triple-boot osx, linux and windows on principle, but as
soon as I got it working I pitched it into the corner and only powered
it up again a month ago because I thought I needed it to upgrade my
iPhone before I realised that it was actually quicker and easier to
do that job with a PC. Apple can FOAD as far as I'm concerned. If
Jobs manages to come back from this round of dead, he needs to take
it as a sign that the day of the single-buttoned mouse (and all that
that implies) is over. Well over.

    GB, opinionated bastard!

Give 'em to BT; he knows people for whom they'd make a world of difference.

People like BT (and the people he helps) are SPECIFICALLY why I
can't bring myself to chuck 'em away, even if that's what the
    rules say I must do.

    Drop me a line BT.

you might donate them to some little kid on the other side of the
world.. or maybe sell 'em off somehow.

I'm afraid I've stopped doing that work in Fiji now - after 4 years of
effort I couldn't see that I'd made any significant difference.

I could possibly find someone around here that might want one - I
occasionally meet older people who want a basic letter-writing
computer, and it's much easier to find space for a laptop in a
    retirement unit.

Apple have changed a lot in the last 5 years (seriously).

The cheapest core2duo imac is twice as fast as the top end dual G5 from
    back then.

I just paid $60 to mail $30 worth of school-supplies to Sri Lanka.
Popping a $?00 laptop into the package might've made it seem a little more
    worthwhile!
