    Sounds like a terrific day.
Well, not as good but I was able to ride so things are looking up.

I know it's early Spring but today was just like the middle of Summer.

Our club rode to Abilene today, for our quarterly meeting with Chapter 1.
We left the house this morning, at 9:20, stopped to fill up our tanks and
then met up with the rest of our chapter's members, in Potter's parking lot.
We left out just after 10:00 a.m. and on the way through Albany, we stopped
and collected a couple more riders, then again stopped at the roadside park
on Microwave Hill, just west of Albany. There we had a short meeting and
ate our sack lunches, then hauled butt on out to Fort Phantom Lake, where
the big meeting was being held. We took 600 off 180 and that's a nice curvy
ride. We passed by the old Fort and all it's chimneys. That's an awesome
    sight.

The meeting was good but the heat was on! Only a weak breeze off Fort
Phantom Lake, to take the searing edge off. I'm glad we stopped at Oscar's
Mexican Restaurant on the way back. Good food, good service, great air
conditioning and located just outside Abilene. They were closing up but
opened their doors to us and fed us anyway and for that, we are truly
    grateful.

It felt like it was close to 100 degrees when we were at the lake and
saddled back up and by golly, when we finally rode back through Albany, one
of the time/temp signs said it was 90 degrees, at 6:10 p.m.!

We didn't get the rain that was predicted. It was clear sky all the way.
But it was a good ride and everyone made it there and back with zero
problems. Just the way I like it.

I hope you all had as good a weekend. :)

It was, Don. All except the sunburn my face got, while at the meeting.
While riding, my helmet blocked the sun. I'm glad I was wearing my long
sleeved shirt. It's thin enough to be fairly cool, yet blockes the sun. I
    get brown in a hurry.

Speaking of shirts, the one I wore today, is 65% poly and 35% cotton. It
felt cooler than my 100% cotton shirt. I'm going to buy more of those!
Hey, that's good! Every day you get to ride, is a good day.

Now that I'm down to 2 wheels, I'll be riding a lot more. ;)

Sounds like you had a great ride Sunny. The weather up here is starting to
co-opporate, there's even been a few days to ride that haven't required my
winter jacket, lol. A sunburn in Michigan on the last few days of March, or
the first few days of April, is nearly unheard of, lol. Savor the
opportunity !! I do have to wonder though, if it's that warm down there now,
how hot is this summer going to be? One of the really nice things about
Michigan is that no matter how hot things get during the day, most times it
will cool (55 to 75 degrees) in the evening. Now if only we could shorten up
winter a bit, without loseing that, lol

As if you needed a reason.....lol. Enjoy it, and ride safely!!

    Regards,

Hey Vic, it dipped down to 50 last night. Must have had a cold front blow
in while I was sleeping. <g>
But seriously, from the looks of it, we may have a "really hot" summer.
Here where we are, we still haven't gotten enough rain yet but hopefully we
will, before the real heat sets in.

I'm glad you're getting to ride this early though. Sure is a stress
reliever after being cooped up, isn't it? :)
    All the more reason. ;)
If it's winter with ice on the roads, I don't get out anyway. And with the
way gas prices are going, filling a 4.2 gallon tank is a lot less stress on
    the wallet.

    All the best, Vic.

As one seasonal rider to another, we barely get a taste of some above
freezing weather when that evil bitch Mother Nature turns down the
thermostat and delivers more snow. At least that is now the forecast
    for Wednesday.

By the way, have you heard of the proposed meet in LaCrosse Wisconsin?
That's not quite your backyard but it's in the neighbourhood.

    "Calgary" >
Yup, I've been keeping up. I got excited when it was first mentioned, and
slated for Souix Falls, SD. LaCrosse is even closer at only about 650 miles.
Ive been hesitant to commit, as a 'for certain', but it's definately on the
'hopefully I'll make it' list. As the date gets closer, I'll know for
certain if I can make it. You're planning on being there, aren't you? It
sure would be nice to meet some of the folks in these two groups irl.

If I make it, the plan is to go 'over the top' through Michigan's UP, and
northern Wisconsin. It's a bit farther, but will avoid going around Chicago.
It will also be a lot more scenic. I haven't talked to Sleazy and Shadowfax,
but last I heard, they were planning on making it. They're a bit south of
me, and may elect to take the more direct southern route. My friend Bob
and I are both retired. We've discussed making an even longer trip out of
it. Neither of us will be on a schedule, and the plan is to kind of take our
time getting out there, and back. Like I said, as soon as I'm able to commit
for certain, I'll let you know.

never comment on anything about bikes, that I know about, and you dern
sure dont ever post describing a Bike ride, that you and your other ole
retired friend took once upon a time. Seriously: You mean you are riding
to wherever ole Don Binns is talking about, you sure? Is it over 50
miles, round trip? (well keep atleast ME Posted, I am interested, dern

    BJay,

The trip's not scheduled until June, I still have plenty of time to back
out, lol. I'd really like to make it, but knowing what an SOB I am, it
wouldn't surprise me if they re-schedule it, and not tell me about it, lol.
I've been trying to keep a low profile about the trip, and kind of 'sneak
up' on the the get-together before they realize I might be going. I'd
appreciate it if you'd keep my plans to go on the Q.T. Nothing's worse then
to show up and have no one else there. That happens to me a lot, lol.

    Regards,

    Vic

PS: Just 'messing with you too, BJay... (big chuckle from Vic in the 'thumb'
    of Michigan)
