Heh. I had to verify our findings on #1 and #2. I spent a little too
long on #2; I seem to have drooled into my lap. Well I think it's
    drool.

  3. I suppose I could extract the whole "scene" if anyone wants it (minus the
rude interruption by Sean Connery). The girly has quite a nice botty as
    well, if I remember rightly.

But hell, it's available by torrent, if you can wait the 3 days it took me
    to get it.

  4. Get a less pikey internet connection.

  5. I don't think the speed of torrent downloads has much to do with connection
speed. But yes, my connection is shite ie;5Mb. But hell, it's only 50€pm.

  6. Of course it does. The bigger pipe you have, the more you can get down
it. Of course, the slowest point is the part to worry about, but if
that's not you, then you can't do much about it.
Jesus and I thought NL was pricey (50Mb plus TV and phone for €66,50)

  7. One can only download what's available. I've never seen a bittorrent
download faster than 100k, so I don't think my 5Mb connection will be the
    limiting factor.

  8. Whereas I regularly get 1.5mb from torrents.

It's probably related to the popularity of the stuff you choose to
download. Do you even bother to check how many seeders there are when
    choosing which torrent to open?

  9. Nail on head. I don't download popular stuff ie; modern. If I want the
latest Bond film or whatever, I'll just go and buy it. I usually want
obscure things that hardly anyone's got anymore. Just watched "Día de la
Bestia" (Day of the Beast) because part of a translation course I'm doing
involves a review of said old film. That took about a week to get. I gave up
trying to find "El Disputado Voto del Sr. Cayo". Then my wife saw it for
sale in a charity shop in the UK, bought it and when she brought it back
here we found that it was a different film :-(

Do you think I'm some kind of pirate?
I look, and there's rarely more than 2 or 3.

ironic that you can get up to 8Mb/sec in the UK for £7.50 a month, from a
Spanish company http://broadband.o2.co.uk/home/packages.jsp (as long as you
have a phone contract with them)

Virgin are touting 100meg broadband trials. What a load of fucking bollocks.

How about a nice reliable 1meg in both directions, available 24x7 with an
SLA, with no port blocking, traffic shaping or packet sniffing.

Streaming real time TV and film over the 'Net is a feckin silly idea.

it happened around the end of the "Net Book Agreement". Before that,
it was pretty transparent what sold what.

it's not a novel, but try reading "The Role of the Reader" and see if
you can make it into double figure page numbers before hurling it at
    the nearest solid object.

On an unrelated note, I seem to have upset Richard Herring. Which made
    me feel good.

Only said he wasn't as good as Stewart Lee.

I've not heard of either of them. I had to google and even then have no
    idea who they are.
