Just missed getting a very nice looking luggage rack for my z on
ebay....really pissed about that. Does anyone know of a supplier, preferably
uk because of the emense p&p costs for overseas purchases, who still knocks
these things out for vintage jap bikes? Fashionable, no. Well fuckin handy,
    yes.

Try your local bike dealer and pester them into sourcing a 'universal' rack
for you. They will have the cattylogs so you can see the pictures.

"Universal" : fits many different models of machine equally badly.

I had one from Lintek that fitted my XJ650 and later XJ750 very well. I
sold it to a CB650 owner and it bolted up fine on that.

In general, I do have to agree that 'Universal' normally equates to
    'shitfit'

I "bought" (for a pint of Guiness) a rack for my CB750, which was a
universal jobby from the days when the CB had one cam and could be
bought new from Honda dealers. It fitted the CB, via a Ruff fitting
kit - several big, long bolts and tube spacers made from a nold shower
    rail.

Then it fitted the VF, by simply cutting one of the spacers in two and
returning the other to the parts box. Now it graces the Rat - sans
spacers but with the lessthansubtle addition of a couple of
    frame-mounted captive nutted lugs.

Anything can be universal with an angle grinder and patience.

Any use? Cheap, and nothing a wire brush a black smoothrite wouldn't
    cure.

Look, I spent ages measuring them up and annotating the picture, I'm
going to get value for money from that url...
