K100RS - The saga continues.... [Blog]

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Brownz \(Mobile\), Apr 15, 2009.

  1. Found out it was easy enough to drop the forks out without removing the
fairing, which allowed me to get at the allen bolts a lot more easily.

Ended up cracking them with a non ball end allen key as the fekin sockets I
    bought today wouldn't reach.

Thought, I might as well clean everything up now.

What sort of fucking cack handed animal owned this bike in the past then....

Its looks like a really good bike!

    What he said.

It hasn't snapped and thrown you over the handlebars so far, it won't do
so now just because you know about it.

Put it back together and ride it you gurt poof.

It's a mess for sure. I sure Bonners can suggest a shop capable of repairing
    the damage though.

Oddly - Id like to have something like that, I keep looking at old BM's
as they seem to come in my price range[1] in the quest for "something
    different".

    [1] Not a lot.

I'm gonna unsubscribe soon. You fucking lot are all getting old before
your time. When Champ buys a BMW bike I'll be fucking off from this
group because the smell of piss and mints will be too much to bear.

Yeah, I've got a spare set of yolks he can have FOC. In fact he can
have the complete set of forks and all he needs to do is change the
seals because one blew when we did our European tour last summer.

    I'm not delivering them btw.

I love mine. Admittedly, they're not cheap, but they don't depreciate
    either.

After riding a K and an airhead R, I'm glad I went for the R.

They're odd bikes, but strangely addictive.

Wrap the bolt in PTFE tape, do it up finger tight, ram a load of
Chemical Metal in the hole, then tighten the bolt when the CM's hard.
    It'll be fine.

  16. Heh, that ain't going to happen.

I'm a bit like the old man when it comes to engineering.

I know a bodge might work, but I would never trust it, and as the upper fork
leg looks to have been over tightened in the yolks at some point deforming
the surface somewhat, I'll be spending some money.

Luckily the damage is on the right hand fork assy only.
