Kawasaki KMX200

I have a 1989 KMX 200 A3. I believe that some models have different power
outputs, eg 17 or 30 BHP. Is this correct and if so, can anyone tell me
which models have which outputs.

Are you sure you have not got the KMX confused with the 4 stroke Yamaha
XT350? Later versions of the XT had 17 bhp but they could be simply
derestricted.

Err No......... 2 stroke and 4stroke also the name on the tank is a bit of
a giveaway !

I'm suggesting you have mistakenly ascribed a belief not incorrectly
identified your bike.

Dunno ... BUT ...

I do know the 125 (My bro-in-laws) was restricted by three spot welds on a
washer inside the exhaust downpipe ... took the effectice exhaust diameter
down from whatever it was, maybe 40mm to about 10mm or less. When removed
it needed re-jetting and the needle raising.

Might be worth dropping the exhaust downpipe off and having a lookiesee ..

I got the stuff about differing power from another place, the KMX I have
feels like 30 rather that 17 BHP, eg quite quick, not like the old TS185 I
had in 1977 !!

 

Thanks Paul, I don't think the same applies to the 200, I do think mine is
30BHP rather than 17BH 'though.
