Kidney all clear

  1. You could have told me that back in 1980!

Since we were struggling to get the Interferometer ready in time, I
didn't spend any time at AntDiv head office in Melbourne before we left, so
I didn't pick up on any helpful hints -- like the seasickness pills you
have to start taking several days in advance as they take that long to
    start working...

A 2,000 tonne boat in the Southern Ocean moves about a bit!

  2. We used to make jugs of Harvey Wallbanger down South. Take jug.
Add one bottle vodka and one bottle Galliano. On a good day we could
squeeze a couple of ounces of OJ in as well...

That brings back memories of Xmas parties at a field studies centre
<checks> Blimey it is still going http://www.caerllan.co.uk/ and owned by
the same family. There's no mention of the eldest son who I went to school
with. I wonder if the family has kissed & made up since the incident...

Anyway, I digress. The host used to greet people at the door with a Harvey
Wallbanger, made in 2 gallon buckets. Such an innocuous looking drink, if
you make room for some OJ.

It probably won't cause any additional damage.
    Ditto.

My normal food/drink routine is safe in that I've not had any kidney
stones (yet) so here's a sample:

06:30 cup of coffee before leaving hotel
07:15 another cup of coffee before morning meeting
07:45 another cup of coffee after morning meeting
10:00 Sausage, bacon, fried egg, slice of toast and another coffee
12:30 Canteen dinner to include a 'pudding'. Another cup of coffee
    16:00 Another cup of coffee
19:00 another cup of coffee while we have the evening meeting
21:30 A couple of pints of Stella

Pile in with a few roll ups plus snacks such as packets of crisps and
the occasional cake and you've got the staple diet of a power station
    outage manager.

I tend to stop at the nearest supermarket to grab a sandwich and a
couple of sausage rolls or similar on my way back to the hotel at
about 20:00 but what I buy depends on how hungry I feel so doesn't
count. I've also got the Stella sorted in that the barman gives me
beer on a buy one get one free basis and only beer purchased counts
when it comes to weekly booze intake.

I'm sure they've got a couple of shirt lifters working as welders so
    it's not an issue.

to life as the Dowager Bonwick.

Other than the fry ups and roll ups it doesn't sound hugely bad to me.
Presumably there's an evening meal missing though.

And only 5 cups of coffee? I must drink double that in cups of tea a
    day.

    Scared that extra pie last
    week has ruined you figure?.
No need. Start the Bonwick diet TODAY!
You too could look like this in just 2 weeks"

I'm not entirely sure it'd sell.

Ahh, and I only counted the coffees that lined up at the same point in
    sentences.

Still, it could be worse - no mention of kebabs and curries.

A shish kebab is fairly healthy, if you munch the salad, I would think.

Aren't curries supposed to be relatively healthy? I suppose it depends on
how much butter is in the sauce and the quantity of lager concomitantly
    consumed.

I think curry can be healthy, but generally the ones in restaurants are
    full on calorie fests IIRC.

A nutritionist friend commented much the same to me after lunch today.
She reckons I'm almost worth doing a paper about, on the subject of the
triumph of alcohol consumption over vitamin deficiency.
