Kids trail bike helmets

Jodz is looking for any comments re helmets for a 3 year old, positive
or otherwise.

Where to get them, who makes them that small... does anyone?

I think the problem is that kids that young don't have developed enough
neck muscles to manage a helmet. 4 or 5 is probably the absoluyte
earliest.

Use a pushbike helmet till then, you can get ones that look like
motorbike helmets that are probably light enough.

Thanks we thought a pushbike helmet as well
Molly has now decided she likes her brothers and sisters bike and we cant
keep her off it when they on it.......she telling them to go faster... i
just couldn't watch em

I would not be happy with a pushbike helmet,not designed for the job and
offering very little protection,especially in a powewr on collision with
a post/tree (seen this happen)
GREX make XS size helmets, these can be packed with carved HD foam to
make them fit, retail for about $139

Bloody typical sales droid talk!

 

How are they for weight? I found my young blokes Nex was too heavy 'til he
was about 7 but he's on the smaller side for his age.

 

They are lighter (the GREX), but, the weight is something he would have
to get used to, I think THH make a open face helmet for kids, I might
have a old used one here (a THH) , had little use , worn by my daughter.
If you are ineterested I can dig around in the garage.

My young bloke's still wearing the smallest size THH make and he's 9 now.
I've since found KBC? make a smaller size. G-S is after a helmet for a 3
year old. A propper helmet woulda snapped my kids neck in half at that age,
even if it fit, IMHO.
