'kinell - escorchio

  1. Just popped out to get the post and almost fell over. There's a 38C
breeze blowing gently past my front door. That's it - doors, windows and
persianas closed tight until November. And the pub with the aircon gets
    my hard earned shekels.

    Still, beats being cold.

All I have to do now is get a motorcycle licence...

  2. Sounds ideal. I *like* hot.

The 4 days I spent in Dubai last year were the first time in a long
time I can remember being properly warm. The only time I used the
aircon in the hotel room was during the night - and even then I'd got
it pegged towards the top end of the temperature scale.

    I'm a lizard really.

  3. Got a flippin'plague of them here at the mo. Big green ones. They like to
sunbathe on the rocks. Seen a few flat ones as well mind. They run pretty
quickly, but not always quickly enough. And the geckos are out in force,
with snakes currently in 3rd place.

What are you having for tea?

  5. There's a plague of them around here. Not in stew though, still on legs.
Them what govern have decided to make the place a nature reserve because
they want to re-introduce the iberian lynx. Now they're having to pay
huge compensations for the damage that the rabbits are doing to the crops.

Still not a lynx in sight.

Plenty of foxes though. In fact there's a plague of them.

  7. This is the first year we haven't (yet) had a plague of them.

    There's still time though.

  11. That's about what it was here this afternoon, so we spent it
snorkelling and generally lazing about on an island with more sea
shells than I have seen on all the beaches I've ever been on in my
    life combined.

I even found a 'many whorled univalve' (American Auger).

    Cooling a bit, now it's only 93f.
As long as my car, room and any building I am in has airco pumping at
'very cold' - I don't mind being warm outdoors.

  13. We had pork strips fried in a touch of ghee, garlic and mushrooms and
finished off with lemon juice. Over noodles tossed with a touch of
    sesame oil.

    Nice it was.

  16. How can I phrase this politely?

I'm thinking of a short word that starts with N and ends with O. With
    no letters in between.

We're surrently averaging a meagre 25 or so, although a couple of
weeks back it was up in the30s for five or six days, with one day[1]
    at 37C.

[1] When I'd come in on the pushbike, which made for an interesting
ride home. For 'sweating like a pig' values of interesting. Good job I
    had the Camelpack with me.

  18. We've learned now. The first couple of years, we'd leave windows and
doors open. Now, as soon as it starts to warm up, we shut everything up.
The walls are stone and 2 feet thick, painted white, (of course) so it
    stays ok in the house.

What we have now, however, is what they call El Levante. It's a hot wind
that makes everyone feel like shit, sets the dogs off and fills the pool
with crap out of the fields.
